I'm a bit shocked that none of you hopes that she does a bit more than just sing the anthem.

It's a sports event and people want to have fun. And she's singing the anthem. But there are many concepts about what is respect. Americans, in general, should just drop that fake concept of decency, costume, tradition..The strangest conservatism.

But if she feels like going pretty and it helps her make a good job. Why would she push herself to do something she doesnt feel like/believes in.

I don't think she needs to go crazy for the National Anthem (she's going to do the tribute at the Grammys and I guess it's going to be pretty crazy since Intel is involved too. 2 crazy performances in a row would be too much).
But the end of the video made me cry: "We need the Gaga you used to be, the Lady Gaga you should be and the Lady Gaga you could be."
It's like they're saying: "Ok we liked you at first but that's it, just a random singer amongst many one. Then you reinvented yourself and made us see what a great singer you are with jazz and all those high profile covers. Now that we realized how great you are, we want you to be true to yourself and your art. You don't have to prove anything else to us." :'(

No. Gaga needs to bust out her best and most impressive pipes and sing this song gloriously, without any stunts. Gaga has all the time in the world to be an enigma, this is not the time for it, other than just being her tiny little self and leaving the audience in wild wonder of how that large and rich voice comes from this host.

I agree, this is a trick so they can drag her afterwards. The Grammy's will provide the right amount of "freaky" we all need, considering that she is honoring the master of the Theatre of the Absurd. 

As much as I love me a freak like Gaga, I would rather have America judge her on her talent and not because she pulled a stunt.
