PoshLife 17,019
From Politico (emphasis mine): Campaign staffers for Sen. Bernie Sanders donned union pins to gain access to worker dining rooms in Las Vegas, the powerful Culinary Workers union confirmed Thursday. "We can confirm multiple reports of Bernie Sanders’ campaign staffers attempting and gaining access to employee dining rooms at Las Vegas Strip properties where over 57,000 members that we represent work,” said Geoconda Arguello-Kline, Culinary Workers Union Local 226 secretary-treasurer. “We are disappointed and offended; it's completely inappropriate for any campaign to attempt to mislead Culinary Union members, especially at their place of work.” “The Culinary Union button that hundreds of thousands of union members have proudly worn to work every day represents 80 years of struggle and fighting for justice,” Arguello-Kline’s statement said. “We strongly condemn anyone falsifying their affiliation with the Culinary Union in order to gain access to properties and we will cooperate with casinos and hotels so that this matter is fully resolved.” The Culinary Workers union is one of the most powerful labor groups in Nevada and has yet to endorse a candidate in the Democratic primary. --------- Update with more context from the Huffington Post: The Sanders campaign told CNN that staffers "did wear Culinary buttons to try to talk to workers, but did not misrepresent who they were." That may well be true, but from the vantage point of the union that may not matter. Companies and unions sometimes negotiate certain spots on company property where union staff can freely go to talk with the employees they represent -- in this case, particular areas in the employee dining halls. This is a valuable privilege that unions take seriously and wouldn't want to jeopardize. Unauthorized visits from political outsiders could potentially do that. --------- Editorial remark: Between this and the Sanders campaign stealing Clinton's voter data last month, do these people have any integrity at all? It worries me that they're so brainwashed for their candidate that their "win-at-all-costs" attitude is leading them to actually steal from other campaigns and lie to people. This isn't Sanders' fault, but he needs to address the now-multiple transgressions of his own campaign - not just publicly, but directly to those who are making him look bad. He also needs to be held to the same standard that other candidates are: If Clinton's campaign did this, there would be hearings for months.

Quite the contrary, this may result in the union endorsing Clinton over Sanders, which would give her a gigantic boost in the state. The Culinary Workers are extremely powerful there, as tourism and hospitality is Nevada's (Vegas's) biggest industry. Don't underestimate the consequences of pissing off a union. It was a stupid thing that some of Sanders' campaign staffers did, and it may cost them an important endorsement from a group Sanders is supposed to do well with but isn't (organized labor). It's actually a really interesting issue if you look beyond personal candidate preference.

May have thrown the wrong words in there, Bernie is actually someone who I think could do good for US people, specially those who've been opressed by the system for way too long. JazzGa 14,652
"Do they have any integrity at all?" Lmfao. This is a tiny smudge on the glass compared to every other presidential candidate's massive glaring cracks and blood splatters. Oh noooooooeeesss someone affiliated with Bernie wore an evil button and they reported a data security breach that wasn't taken seriously until it could be spun in a way that benefited Clinton!!11 Bad Bernie! Bad! Ur grounded!! This is all just politics as usual, but since the media is so determined to undermine Sanders's otherwise squeaky clean campaign and he has the balls to own scandals and apologize instead of paying hush-money they are naturally putting the magnifying glass on any straw they can possibly grasp.
