Never Ending is like an Spanish guitar acoustic slow song, with drums. Also a sleeping song. I think this will be one of the songs I will listen to the least.

I actually love this album. I think it is exactly where Rihanna is in her life. It also showcases her vocals ( not like belting ones) but her raspy voice. Love this. I needed a trap album atm!

Love On The Brain really sounds like an old song too, like soul with guitar and slow drums in the background. Also a man in the background. Feels nostalgic and sensual. Like her standing in front of a classy jazzy crowd Marilyn Monroe style. Suddenly it gets a little bit rocky, like more attitude. Now it's a organ in the background.

This is fücking good in terms of musical quality. 45S vibe but more much musical and she shows of her vocalist qualities.

Not my type of genre tho' but pretty good.

Higher sounds oriental, also old sounding. Sounds like Miley's vocal qualities, in her latest album, very raw and even showing vocal flaws. A raw song, very slow, only 2 min long.

Close To You starts as something that reminds of her song Stay. It's a piano ballad, sentimental. "Hope the message goes close to you" is it talking about herself saying bye to her pop era? Sounds like she wrote it her self, feels like her in her bedroom on a rainy day. A perfect ending to her album.

Guys this album ain't about singles, it's kind of a conceptual album, all the songs are related, at least in musical terms. No bops here as you may expect. The album as two parts. First some 4 or so songs that have that hip-hop/R&B essence she likes, the rest is old sounding like old rock, jazz and soul.

Consideration is actually cool, typical Riri lyrics and original vocals. I like the SZA feature, sounds like her mother or something. I think the message of the song is to just consider the lyrics... I mean is like telling the listeners expecting "normal" Rihanna to just shut their mouthes and listen with an open mind. Also a slow sound but with hip-hop features. Number 3 in my top list of the album. Probably won't listen that much to it bc it serves as a opening song only.

DESPERADO top nr 1 of this album. Sounds rocky, like a western movie feeling... Like she's walking before shooting. At some times she uses the flow of a popular rapper, it's cool, but sucks that she takes the flow from somebody else. Can't quite get to who she reminds me of in that part... Young Thug flow? Drake's lately flow?

Anyway, this is the song I think I will be listening to. Again, some hip-hop and rap elements to the rocky song, and by the end some well camouflaged dubstep elements in the background. Cool song.

Again, the only near "bop" song here is actually Work so I get why her label chose this as new "first" single.

Good album in musical terms. I love that she has done what I was hoping for, going for her real self. She loves hip-hop, it's clear she has brought in some elements of the genre. But it's mostly old fashioned sounding songs, mostly ballads/slow songs too. So, to me it's a 7,5 of out 10 rating. The vocal qualities are here. Not a higher rating because it's just not my type of music, my ears just found it a little boring. I bet people from the 70's, 80's or even before would really appreciate this album, or people that listens to this kind of music. I want to give her more because she's taking a big risk, I mean, I really believe it won't be a popular album as of charts, at least not in the long term tbh. But that kind of thing shouldn't count in the rating IMO, so I leave it at 7,5/10.

After two listens; Consideration, Same Ol' Mistakes, Kiss it Better are my top 3

Yeah I said it is a close #4.

It's a damn shame Higher is so short though, her vocals are amazing on that track.
