The original concept of the album was different, but then she found a self-help book called the power of now (which also inspired her song This Moment) that inspired her to be a more positive person, and that is why the album didn't become dark in the end. Which is normal, things change while you are still in the creation process.

Well i'm going to join this kind of discussion for once. (But really, enough..this isn't Katy Perry Daily).

Lg5 comes first. It'll be number 1 in it's first week due to all the bottoms in the world buying it. Then she will face some difficulties with the single sells and it'll take a while for the people to get notice of her but she'll start climbing the charts.

In this, it's been 3 months and Katy Perry releases her (ARTPOP) album. It's an instant hit..but little did they knew Gaga would still be charting. Lady Gaga ends up on top and Katy Perry's era has only one number one single, only for 2 weeks. It'll happen again with other releases.

Lg5 will be a very long era!!! Not uniform, but all the more enjoyable and dynamic.

It also depends what Gaga releases. If she pops out an album that is serious, it could have a big effect on her career. It would be harder for her to ever go back to dance pop and it could do well at first. But Gaga is simply not the best slow song writer. Speechless is a rare time it was good, but her other attempts have been flat and boring. (Dope, looking at you). I think that's why she is dragging in Dianne and Ronson. 

Honestly, right now is a good time for Gaga to put out a dance pop record. No one else really is at the moment putting out a true dance pop (not electronic) album and she's good at it.

Both Birthday and TIHWD had a lyric and regular video. Birthday was promoted on a huge award's show. They both got radio play like they were sitting at number one on iTunes for weeks. Both songs were promoted, they just weren't great songs. 

The last thing Katy has become is a stronger artist. She has stayed stagnant to gone backwards since her TD days. People grew tired of her kiddy act. Gaga singing jazz songs with a legend and having the respect of the music industry for her ability is only something Katy could dream about, because the talent level isn't there for her to ever hope to achieve that level of artistry. Katy is a one trick pony. Gaga has shown that she has multiple options in her future, due to her talent level.

Katy released Unconditionally, This Is How We Do and Birthday as singles and all underperformed. People get bored with every popstar and sound at some point. She has done absolutely nothing to gain more adult audience while Gaga is consistently changing her image and working on new sound since 2014 (C2C, TIHTY, working with Mark Ronson/Nile Rogers, Globes and soon Oscars). I think Gaga will have decent era this time. Its funny when Katys fans say she has longevity and Gaga is forgotten when she has released only three albums while Gaga is having her 5th release soon (6th if count TFM)

They both have longevity,  they've both been in the business for about 8/9 years now and both don't seem to be slowing down at all.

Also, those 3 singles may have underperformed but Roar and Dark Horses HUGE success makes up for that.

Katy Perry has become so saturated that she is no longer desired, her music is so plain that the GP is over it. We saw that in Prism.

KP's next album will be her "ARTPOP era" it will flop to katy's standards. Considering that ARTPOP was Gaga's "flop" and Katy perrys regular, can you imagine how poor a Katy ARTPOP era would be.... like  100k first week.

GP directed songs get you basic results, Talent based songs get you rabid fans, grammy's, and millions of singles and ALBUMS sold. 

Ps. anyone who voted that KP4 will slay LG5 then I got something to remind you on.......This is the woman who gave us the greatest hits of our generation, the genius behind Just dance, Poker face, Bad romance. The brave woman who made an anthem into a single BTW and broke tons of records. The woman who is fearless and puts herself out there not candy coated GP music, The woman who bleed to death on stage, acted and won a globe for it, made Bad romance video, wears meat, rides human horse, made a damn flying dress, and can sing opera and jazz to the success of no pop star! to even assume that she can get outshadowed by anyone, let alone Kurty is blasphemy! Remember Lady Gaga.
