I said on the previous page that I don't side with Linda because I don't have the demo - I'm just saying Linda's apology makes no sense 'cause her being in the room when Gaga and Diane changed the song doesn't even matter, even though people here like to say it does. The demo is enough.

There's no problem other than me being curious about just how Gaga contributed to the composition and people thinking I'm siding with Linda for saying that. I guess I'm just not falling for the double standard - if this were about another artist, this thread would look different and the "then clearly Gaga contributed elsewhere" assumptions wouldn't fly.

Spoken like a true Madonna Stan.

What is up with all the talk about whether her Oscar nomination 'was deserved'...!?!...seems like there are lots of song police in this forum...how do I get on that pay roll? Are we all experts in song composition now?

It's so interesting to me how this is SUCH a thing...let's take a look back in time for a quick sec.

If you go back to Elton's Oscar win in 1995...Elton was credited as composer and Tim Rice wrote the lyrics.

When you look at Skyfall...it is stated that Paul Epworth came on board 'to help Adele write" that song. How much was Adele, how much was Paul???

Last year for Glory...it was John Legend, Common and Che Smith. Three writers?! Uh oh.

Those are just three different examples over the many years of this award being handed out and I don't think I have ever heard of so much stink from any of the other previous years' nominees?

Even if the song was 90% written by Diane...the two of them were in studio working for at least a month off and on (December 2014 and January 2015) on TIHTY. Gaga played a major role in the creation of this song, on all aspects, and this was a collaboration between these two women.

They BOTH deserve this award.

No more talking about deserving of anything. It's ridiculous and disrespectful to both artists. And to imply that all Gaga did was hop on board to get an award like some lazy pop bitch blows my mind!

OK that's all! :) xoxoxo

I am so mad at Linda Perry for bringing all of this drama to Lady Gaga's perfect month of WINNING!

And really once again this shows how fake people are in this business.. She trusts these people and they stab her in the back again. The focus was supposed to be about this really delicate topic and now thanks to PERRY it's all about her stupid TWITTER RANT.

Linda has definitely burned any chance she had for working with Gaga. Like, what was the point? smh They could've collaborated on something AWESOME.

The ultimate "foot in mouth" * statement. The best thing I've heard (seen) all day!! It's soooo pitiful, I was cringing for her as I read it.

I am so pleased that she revoked her statement, apologized, AND pointed out the message was the most important.

* (I don't know if this saying is used outside of the US, so..) "foot in mouth means you said something, then had to take it back, usually in a somewhat embarrassing situation... Like you shoved your foot in your mouth to avoid saying stupid things. Haha.

Gaga gave RedOne credits on Gypsy for coming up with I'mI'mI'mI'mI'mI'mI'm.

The demo was different from the final product, she already admitted that. So not being in the room when the song was written is important. No one believes Gaga wrote most of the song, but she wrote some of it, and that's all that really matters for writing credits.

Beyonce changes a word on every single song, gets writing credits and no one cares. Gaga does it on one song and wow she is such a bitch she doesn't deserve ****.

Linda has gone down in my estimation after all this which is a shame as she's such a good writer. And Gaga even said she was someone she listened to growing up. What is it with previous idols of Gaga's giving her a hard time? First Grace Jones, then Madonna and now this. Do these people have no respect for the people who've been inspired by them? Are they not grateful for the impact they've made on later generations?

Anyway, so glad its been cleared up and that gossip sites are now updating about the whole situation. This thing just gave me flashbacks about the dark days of 2013 when the world seemed against her. It baffles me why so many people want to bring down this amazing woman. I don't see other artists get treated like this. It's nothing but spitefulness and jealously. I hope this will finally be the year where people just leave this amazingly talented artist alone. Of all things to come after Gaga for - not writing lyrics? Really? She's been a credited songwriter before she even had a debut album out and she writes all her original material. And Diane Warren only lets people co-write with her once in a blue moon. If someone like that is fine with Gaga having writing credit then she damn well did contribute. To just charge in, all guns blazing, accusing her of not writing a thing with no proof is mindblowing. And to do it just after your song failed to get a nomination showed up the real reason why you did so.

As they say: jealousy is a disease...get well soon, bitches.

I think the damage is irreparable.  Once Linda planted a seed of negativity towards the song in the back of the minds of some of the voters, it's all over no mater what she said later.  The question is why would Linda sabotage the chances of Gaga and Diane?  If she was basing it on her supposition, not on solid facts, she should have waited until after the awards ceremony.  During the ceremony, if Diane's acceptance speech credits Gaga for her part in writing the song, case closed.  If not, Linda could post her opinion.  But to sabotage someone's chances based on a theory is totally rude and unkind.  That does give credence to the jealousy theory, although it's hard to say.

She was just plain and bitter. You can tell because of her twitter comments when she found out she didn't get nominated.

Honestly Linda sounded like such a sore loser through all of this. Did she not consider what it would look like to people seeing the tweets of her being sad to not get the nom, then the congrats to Diane and Gaga, THEN the accusation about writing credits?
