Coop 15,411
Tidal, Jay Z's streaming music service, has been hitting some consumers with false charges over the last 24 hours. I know because I'm one of them — and I cancelled Tidal several months ago. This morning I noticed a $19.99 charge on my credit card, which is how much the company's lossless / hi-fi subscription costs per month. A few hours later, Tidal sent along an apologetic email and let me know that the money would be refunded within a few business days. Dear User We are sorry to inform you that due to an error, you have been billed 19.99$ for a TIDAL subscription. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience, and have already refunded the amount to your account. However, it can take from 2-5 business days to show up on your credit card statement. In addition to the full refund, we have also given you free access to TIDAL Premium for the next three months as a compensation. Your TIDAL account is now active, and you can log in with your existing username [email protected] password. Again, we apologize for this, and appreciate your patience and understanding. Thank you If you actually bother logging back into Tidal and check the settings section, you'll see that billing is automatically set to renew once those three months run out. So, a company that I parted ways with months ago has mistakenly charged me, turned my cancelled account back on, and if I hadn't bothered checking, I'd be getting hit with more unexpected fees three months down the line. Nicole 1,809
Eh, don't see the big deal. Mistakes happen, as long as these people are given their money back, which they seem to be doing. When Netflix first came out in Australia there was an issue and some people got charged waaaayyyy more than the monthly cost. My only question is why they still have credit card details of ex customers, is that normal?
