Bernie Sanders is an idiot! And so is Hillary! They would be God awful presidents if they get elected. Socialism will ruin this country and what its based on...hard work. And he's going to make it so you don't have to work and the people that do will just have to give up there money to people who don't have it. Its America! If you want something then get it! Its what is country was made for. I'm sick of Democrats wanting to make The United States another country...there's a reason we were the top nation in the world...and there's a reason were now considered a joke to the rest of the world.

I used to think that, but everytime something happens in the world that makes people feel unsafe, Trump gains more ground. Everytime something like that happens, these words pop in my head..."we are going to have a Republican President". I just can't believe the nominee is going to end up being Trump. I never saw that one coming.

I can see how you and others are thinking that, but I just can not believe that that will truly happen. I think that that is just what "they" want us to think. I can see Trump getting the R nom but NOT winning the presidency. He will not be president, a Democrat will be. I honestly feel it's Hillary.

Let's see :)

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

Literally no one is advocating this position. Not Bernie, not Hillary, not anyone. So... not sure what you're doing :)

Don't not vote for bernie because he's unelectable, vote for someone else because Sanders is a freaking socialist.

I don't understand how many socialist states will have to fail in order to drill that into people's mind.

The free market is the only way in which a country can have sustainable economic grow.

Scandinavia does pretty well. So do semi socialist states like Germany

Guess what Canada and Europe don't pay for? Their military

Get your facts please. If EU was a country we would be the #2 country that spend the most in military. France alone is #3 on that list, the UK is #4 right before Russia.

Exactly how many socialist states have failed? I count a total of 0. Russia was never actually socialist, only by name, and China was as well. Those were both authoritarian because they were not run by the people, but a small, handful of corrupt elites. I'm not saying communism/socialism is the end-all-be-all of politics, but let's not act like it's actually occurred in history because it hasn't. The closest is democratic governments with elements of socialism such as France, Switzerland, Britain, Sweden etc. No country is 100% one way or the other, and Sanders's stance is simply to swing a little more to the left to solve some of the inequality problems he sees in America. Agree with it or not, that's a matter of opinion, but he's not looking to burn down the establishment, people. Chill your loins.

Regarding electability, that's laughable. In what way is Clinton electable? Republicans DESPISE her. No Republican would ever vote for her because they all hate her for a variety of reasons some founded some not. I'm not going to say Sanders is entirely appealing to the right either, but let's call it how it is, neither candidate will be attracting Republicans and no right candidate is going to attract a Democrat because all the Republicans are borderline batshit crazy. It's polarized politics so I'm not sure why anyone's all that concerned about electability when in the end it comes down to identity politics and how the candidates can appeal to minorities.

It would be very nice to have a female president, it's about time, but Clinton is not the one I feel should be the first as, despite her political accomplishments, she panders to minorities to win their votes and bandwagons causes that are political importance. Someone changing an opinion is one thing, it shows they are open to ideas; never resting on one means that they are political opportunists and exploit social movements for their own benefits. Case in point, feminism. When did she give a damn about it until this election? She's done very little for the cause and only speaks hollow, empowering words to buzz up her audiences.

Personally, I like Sanders because even if I don't agree with everything in his platform, at least he has convictions that he's stood by for decades of shifting political climates. The same cannot be said for Clinton and that bothers me. To me, she plays by her own rules and refuses to accept responsibility for them and that rubs me the wrong way.

Shes right. Why would you want a socialist as the president? Spend even more money we dont have. Tax the upper class at ridiculous rates. And make college free so a degree is worthless. That makes a lot of sense...

He's worse than Obama. He can say all of the things he wants to change/accomplish, but they will either never see the light of day or dig this countries hole at a way faster rate.

???

If everyone had degrees, they'd be worthless.

Still, it's not that free education is a bad thing. It's just that implying that free education will make everyone's life better is a grand delusion because there will always have to be a janitor for every engineer.

I feel so bad typing this out though. It's one of those things that are best acknowledged in silence rather than discussed because they are unfortunate truths.

Right ... because a degree is about the money you invest instead of the skills and knowledge you learned to prepare you for the industry you would like to be in ... :laughga:

Not everybody can have degrees because just as if you were having to pay for college, a certain amount of knowledge, dedication and hard work is required to get one. Making education free doesn't guarantee a degree nor does it guarantee a successful future. It does, however, guarantee a chance for the disadvantaged to move up, a chance to prove themselves, a chance to possibly change the world through advances and discovery in science, medicine, astronomy, etc.

Now some people won't possess the ability or the work ethic to make a valuable contribution to the world, but why the hell would you want to deny somebody the chance to succeed?

I get that. I guess I'm looking at it more from a real world perspective than economically. Even if degrees were free, I doubt that everyone would put in the work to complete 120+ credit hours

Also, I'm sure schools would make their curriculum more tough, and will create a hardee criteria to enroll. But I understand what you're saying. More people would have more degrees overall, so the value of it will drop but I feel like it would take a while for it to get to that point.
