MTV: ‘See You Again’ And The Glaring Irrelevance Of The Oscars

I just really think that song has only to do with Paul Walker's death and nothing at all with the film and its plot. So why would they give it a recognition for being the best original song FOR A FILM when clearly it's not since it's more accurately for someone's passing?

Well...I was just as surprised the song wasn't at least nominated, tbh...

...but using popularity as a point in this discussion is not understanding that the Oscars uses artistic merit as it's only criteria (at least officially, cuz you can campaign and all)...and saying that the most prestigious award show in the entertainment industry is irrelevant ain't gonna fly, honey...

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

The Oscars isn't a popularity contest. MTV is the unofficial ***** to popularity, so of course they'll ride this "snub". In reality, it's just common sense. The song isn't special, it's metiocre.

I just think Charlie Puth is the most vanilla, boring thing in music right now, and for that reason alone, I'm glad it wasn't nominated.

The song only had impact because of Paul Walker's dead, without that you have a typical pop song without any impact.

I happened to watch Furious 7 accidentally, it quickly gave me headaches so I only saw the first 5 minutes of the movie. Still 5 minutes I can't recover.

Gaga has tattoos and smokes too... what are you trying to say? Or are you trying to say he's less worthy because of stereotypes? :koons:

I've explained that before...

So how are we supposed to measure their talents out of two pictures? :koons:

No, but I don't see Wiz talking about sexual harassment while most of his songs talk about **** that girl and smoke that drug etc

Dear MTV

this maybe hard to grasp so give it time to sink in: there ARE actually awards that want to reward quality over media relevance. Boom. Shocker. Give it a minute and think about it

That song is mediocre, it would have gone nowhere without Paul Walker

And the fact that MTV discusses relevance in music...

Please, call me when at least your name is Music Television again

I've got an "F" and a "C" and I got a "K" too And the only thing that is missing is a bitch like "U"
