David Bowie is setting a new precedent, even after his death.

The Thin White Duke’s catalog drew 51 million views on Vevo on Jan. 11, a new one-day high-mark for any artist on the streaming music platform.

Bowie breaks the previous same-day record which was held by Adele, whose catalog generated 36 million views on Oct. 23, 2015, the day “Hello” premiered

Lazarus” was the most-watched video with 11.1 million views, according to Vevo, which hosts more than 60 videos spanning Bowie’s illustrious career.

The late British singer’s music video catalog reportedly saw a week-on-week increase in views of 5,198 percent on Jan. 11 -- the day after he died, aged 69, following a battle with cancer.

Bowie’s last album, Blackstar, was released Jan. 8 and is on track to become the singer’s first recording to top the Billboard 200. It’s also expected to bow at No. 1 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart.

I can't believe he has never topped the Billboard 200 before this. I've been listening to all his albums non-stop lately. Such a rare talent. His music truly lives on forever and forever.

It's sad that it took his death for people to realize how magical he was...

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

I have a theory that there's a secret David Bowie track already recorded for LG 5.  Why?  Mostly because it would have been Gaga's dream (and she tends to have her dreams come true) but the real evidence is that after he died, she didn't release a personal statement.  I feel like it's because she didn't want a statement to be seen as trying to use his death as self promotion for the track she knows is coming this year.

Not surprised because the famous saying "you're worth more dead than alive" applies to every last musician that passes away. Do you see how much Sony milked Michael Jackson after he died and still are by re-releasing and mastering one of his albums? I just wish they would leave the artist safe and sound after their death.

This always happens when a big artist dies, but it's so sad still. His music will remain forever tbh.
