Every award show has a history of snubbing amazing performances, black or white. The problem is that black actors are often never cast because of their skin color, and when they are, they are cast as extras and minor roles, and rarely main roles. Film companies have come out saying that they would never cast a black person as a lead because it would "turn people off". There is a lot of racism in Hollywood, and you have to be stupid to not see it.

It's not speculation, it's a fact. the job market has many issues too but it's not the topic of discussion here, so i don't understand why you feel the need to bring it up. and i still don't understand how you know no homosexual people work at your mcdonalds like u clairvoyant? I thought you didn't care? But if you want to focus on that story moreso than the topic at hand then cool, DM me and I'll give you details. The point is that you cannot claim they are racist FACT. It is speculation, hence why were discussing it and there's many different opinions, you do understand the different between fact and speculation, right? Not about whitewashed oscars but about how black actors aren't treated the same. Who gives a **** about awards when there's bigger racism problems in the world. Didymus 34,379
12 Years a Slave (a picture about slavery directed by a black man) winning was surely a sign of their racism, I agree. Chiwetel and Lupita being nominated is proof of the same, esp. Lupita winning. It's much easier to turn the argument around: black people don't get enough major roles in the film industry, hence their chance of winning film awards is dramatically smaller. Don't be ****ing ignorant and lazy like this, people.

Didymus 34,379
Everyone forgetting Viola Davis' legendary nominations/wins (incl. the Oscars) even though she only had like 10 minutes of screentime in 2008's Doubt. Or Octavia Spencer winning an Oscar for The Help, for which Viola was also nominated. These were all much published about nominations/wins so I'm kinda shocked that people simply forgot about them. Will Smith was nominated for two Oscars already. I agree that the people you mentioned were snubbed, but these snubs happen to the same degree with white people
Prismatic 4,789
Funny how most people who are defending that is not racist or about race is white. I Only Stan For Risk Takers
FlopSlut 1,190
Well they shouldnt give special treatment to anyone. Its the best original song competition, and if the experts thought that certain songs werent well written or well sung or original then thats it. It shouldnt matter what the skin color is. Oh no! They didnt nominate someone from India, or an Asian person! Understand that its not like they picked white people only, they picked the best songs and it happened to be those. Do you think minorities actually want to be the victim and always get attention? They only want justice and equality, but that is simply bs. If the winner/nominate is white, off course they have nothing to worry about. You can't deny that there is racist in Hollywood, otherwise, there would be more minorities in bigger roles.
