Didymus 34,379
1997 Golden Globes: Best Actress - Musical or Comedy: Madonna (for Evita) Other nominees: - Glenn Close (101 Dalmatians) - Frances McDormand (Fargo) - Debbie Reynolds (Mother) - Barbra Streisand (The Mirror Has Two Faces) 2016 Golden Globes: Best Actress - Miniseries or Television Film: Lady Gaga (for American Horror Story) Other nominees: - Kirsten Dunst (Fargo) - Sarah Hay (Flesh and Bone) - Felicity Huffman (American Crime) - Queen Latifah (Bessie) What kind of coincidence More connections: - Fargo was the critics' favorite in both years - Frances went on to win amazing awards (incl. the Oscar for Best Actress) for the same role; Kirsten is nominated for some huge awards too, so we'll have to see how that unfolds - Madonna and Gaga were nominated for an irrelevant award outside of the GG (the PCA and the MTV Movie Award) and they both lost it - they both wore a simple black dress - they both wore silver earrings Was Gaga's win written in the stars? Does history truly repeat itself? Discuss

SISTERV 3,887
So LG5 is ha Ray of Light. Mark Ronson is her William Orbit. Also I'd add Evita was a time two years after when Madonna had just received backlash from the GP and had her first "flop" album Bedtime Stories. Reminds me of ARTPOP. It was also the first time Madonna had a music video (Justify My Love) that got banned by it was too controversial (kinda how Do What U Want got cancelled). Bedtime Stories was the icing on the cake though bc it was so much like ARTPOP. It had a huge release rave party at a warehouse (ahem...the artRave release party), it had low opening sales, had one single that did okay and then the title song was considered Madonna trying to be "too artsy". Lol. So similar to ARTPOP. Then Madonna did a slow cover album of her previous hits but in ballad form called Something to Remember which was critically faired be it showcased a toned down image and Madonna's vocals. (Ahem C2C). Evita was her acting pinnacle. (Her AHS). That kinda makes LG5 Gaga's Ray of Light if history really is repeating itself.

Except that Erotica (as an album) BOMBED on the charts and BTW had Gaga breaking records. But your other stuff is pretty much dead on lmao Edit: Wait, not really lmao. But your other stuff is pretty much dead on lmao I know it's not exactly the same order. But there are some awfully comparable coincidences. And I don't even think gaga is trying. It just happened that way. And for the record...I would sooooooo not be upset if LG5 was her Ray of Light. It's Madonna's most experimental, yet catchy, and lyrically deep album. It would be like Gaga putting out an album with unheard of forward instrumentals, with Fame-esque choruses, surrounded by lyrical quality like Speechless or Dance in the Dark.
