I can't stop crying.  I've been listening to Blackstar for three days and have been on Bowie music blogs since it dropped.  Fans have been so psyched.  It's been a great time to be a Bowie fan the last three days with all the excitement and now this.  It's surreal.  He left an untouchable legacy.  To think he had cancer when working on Blackstar and to put out something so fresh and amazing and now has more meaning in a different way.

I'm gutted.

My favorite song by him, Space Oddity:

Long live his legacy. I look forward to the day we become an advanced society, war and differences behind us, and explore our solar system and cosmos with songs like this one by him, filling the void. Charming barely describes the future I foresee.

Do your own research.

The lyrics to the last song on Blackstar.  People always wanted to know what he meant in lyrics and he was always mysterious but gave enough of himself if you looked.  Now I know why he kept repeating that in his song over and over, I can't give everything away.

I know something is very wrong
The pulse returns for prodigal sons
The blackout's hearts with flowered news
With skull designs upon my shoes

I can't give everything
I can't give everything
Away
I can't give everything
Away

Seeing more and feeling less
Saying no but meaning yes
This is all I ever meant
That's the message that I sent

I can't give everything
I can't give everything
Away
I can't give everything
Away

I can't give everything
I can't give everything
Away
I can't give everything
Away

I know something is very wrong
The pulse returns for prodigal sons
The blackout's hearts with flowered news
With skull designs upon my shoes

I can't give everything
I can't give everything
Away
I can't give everything
Away

I can't give everything
I can't give everything
Away
I can't give everything
Away

I'm so sad to hear that David Bowie died :(

I just watched his music video for Lazarus today and I thought it was amazing, made me become a fan of his. But a few hours later I heard the news of his death.

He was such an inspiration to so many people. May his spirit live on...

Lazarus is my favorite song on the album. I just thought it was brilliant. The lyrics will forever take on a new meaning when I listen to it now.

Look up here, I'm in Heaven!
I've got scars that can't be seen
I've got drama, can't be stolen,
Everybody knows me now
Look up here, man, I'm in danger!
I've got nothing left to lose
I'm so high, it makes my brain whirl
Dropped my cellphone down below
Ain't that just like me?!
By the time I got to New York
I was living like a king
Then I used up all my money
I was looking for your ass
This way or no way
You know I'll be free
Just like that bluebird
Now, ain't that just like me?
Oh, I'll be free
Just like that bluebird
Oh, I'll be free
Ain't that just like me?

I'm devastated. I've been crying since I woke up. To put it in perspective, Labyrinth was the first movie I watched aged 3 and it has been an obsession of mine since. I grew up with him. I have a Bowie tattoo, I got a bowie custom gift this Christmas. My dog is called ziggy.

To me this has hit me harder than a "celebrity" death. I'm sat here typing through tears, it's like I've lost family.

Part of NY Times article on the Great David Bowie and his legacy.

"The multitalented artist, whose last album, “Blackstar,” a collaboration with a jazz quintet that was typically enigmatic and exploratory, was released on Friday — on his birthday. He was to be honored with a concert at Carnegie Hall on March 31 featuring the Roots, Cyndi Lauper and the Mountain Goats.

He had also collaborated on an Off Broadway musical, “Lazarus,” that was a surreal sequel to his definitive 1976 film role, “The Man Who Fell to Earth.”

Mr. Bowie wrote songs above all about being an outsider: an alien, a misfit, a sexual adventurer, a faraway astronaut. His music was always a mutable blend: rock, cabaret, jazz, and what he called “plastic soul” but was suffused with genuine soul. He also captured the drama and longing of everyday life, enough to give him No.1 pop hits like “Let’s Dance.”

If he had an anthem, it was “Changes,” from his 1971 album “Hunky Dory,” which proclaimed:

“Turn and face the strange / Ch-ch-changes / Oh look out now you rock and rollers / Pretty soon now you’re gonna get older.”

Born David Jones on Jan. 8, 1947, in South London, Mr. Bowie rose to fame with “Space Oddity,” in 1969, and later through his jumpsuit-wearing alter ego Ziggy Stardust and another persona, the Thin White Duke. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.

Mr. Bowie was his generation’s standard-bearer for rock as theater: something constructed and inflated yet sincere in its artifice, saying more than naturalism could. With a voice that dipped down to baritone and leaped into falsetto, he was complexly androgynous, an explorer of human impulses that could not be quantified.

He also pushed the limits of “Fashion” and “Fame,” writing songs with those titles and also thinking deeply about the possibilities and strictures of pop renown."

My prayers are with all who cared deeply for him, fans and family all together.

Rest in peace Bowie.

They keep mentioning Lady Gaga on the news when they're talking about David Bowie. They said there's no other artist these days that mirrors david bowie, like Lady Gaga.
