XoXoJoanneGaga 629
It doesn't surprise me at all that she would slight BTW by grouping it with ARTPOP, in fact I'm glad to see that she's still so intelligent and self-aware, possibly moreso than ever. Yes Born This Way is a significantly stronger album and era than ARTPOP, but it was still a disappointment at the time and a very far cry from the classic, generation-defining album/era that it was envisioned to be. She started 2011 as the biggest name in music with the fastest #1 debut of all time and ended the year with pretty much no one talking about her except her stans. That is in no way a success, it's the result of a total deflation of momentum, acclaim and interest. The album has some fantastic songs but much of it was shameless rehashing of 80's music (especially Born in the USA, which is an album she was clearly trying to emulate) and it was shockingly overproduced and displayed extremely poor taste and quality control in parts. No one but Gaga's most die-hard fans (aka this forum's demographic) would listen to songs like Highway Unicorn, Bad Kids, Americano, Hair, the bonus tracks, etc. And not because they're brilliantly left-field or daring songs, they're just really loud and cheesy and mediocre. Despite how much I love the standout songs on that album and the memories I have associated with the era, she could have done a much, much better job of it all while stile retaining the core message and concept behind the work. Bitter 3,640
I'm actually really fed up with her contradicting herself all the time. Apparently for Gaga quality equals success. I remember clearly her saying before ARTPOP came out that it would be her best work and that it would be really difficult for her to top it in the future. I'm beyond sure if BTW and ARTPOP were her most successful albums that she would have labelled them as her gold medals. Of course after ARTPOP's underperformance she changed her mind. Oh well. Gaga herself said TF and TFM are separate albums. She has made that quite clear several times She's talking about BTW and ARTPOP whether you like it or not. Kinsey 313
I actually appreciate this statement by her. I am a visual artist and can recognize when a recent work is not my strongest. It is part of the learning process to admit mistakes. The fact that she is taking her time now shows that she is seeking improvement; she is her biggest critic. She doesn't dislike BTW and ARTPOP. She adheres strongly to her artistic vision. Besides, why let this change your view of either album? I absolutely love some songs on AP more than TFM and vise versa. OmgSum1Actually 3,041
Born This Way is her best album up to date, she really transformed that 15 minutes of artistic vomit into hell of a masterpiece, so I don't know would I say that ARTPOP was rushed... (I hate the word basic, because it is not basic and because people here call "basic" songs to songs that are clichés). Bad Romance was intended to be her 1st single off TFM (another hint it was made on purpose) and ALSO, the most annoying fight ever: Interscope/GP calling it an EP and fans considering it an album (it's so obvious that Interscope wanted a reedition of that album once it got popular). Uh, excuse me no. Telephone is not generic at all. It's a beautiful composition and is wonderfully produced. The sound is incredibly unique and fresh. Just because the lyrics aren't about making art doesn't mean it's generic. ARTPOP is truly the breeder of her most delusional fans. Obviously she just lied. What was she supposed to say? "Yeah, well, this album really isn't as good as I could make it, but.. got no time! Anyway, it's in stores now, enjoy it!" I will agree though that every album it seems to be the same story (one hype toward a true authentic creative expression of her talent), so that has me a bit suspicious, on the other hand it's so plain obvious that she was rushed to death after 2010 that this is the most believable thing she's said in years (about her work). And it's just correct that she had no pressure while writing TF and TFM. I dunno. Time will tell.

Sorry, but LMAO If you so called TFM fans ™ overrate The Fame Monster as much as the ARTPOP fans, let me tell you both that you all are entitled to their own opinions and nobody holds the truth or the best statement ever. It's just an opinion. I personally love all of her albums with the same passion, even when I lived all of her eras everyday as they were being developed/launched. tryna go ask Alice, tryna catch that rabbit
