LG5: The return to quality?

"I give it all every time when I'm healthy. When I'm not healthy, when I'm not happy, I can't.. I literally can't, it's like an athlete in the Olympics. You know, if you don't let them train, they can't.. can't pull the gold. I need the time. [...] I'll call you when I'm done. And that's how I did my first record. And my second record."

Isn't this a curious statement?

I for one am thrilled about this interview because it proved something to me that I thought for a long time: this girl is rushed to death (and I started to think that when BTW, the single, was released while she was still touring for TFM and ever since, up to 2014) ànd it's affecting her music.

Now, what does this mean:

- TF and TFM are, according to Gaga, outcomes of her "pulling her gold"
- BTW and ARTPOP were not just rushed, but also subpar to her own capabilities

- LG5 will be a return to an unrushed state of mind, producing her third "golden metal"

We all know that many members here enjoy it when she "drags" ARTPOP but how do people feel about her not including BTW among her best works/era's? I think it's clear by now that Gaga loves both projects but that she's not satisfied with them simply because she wasn't in the right state of mind to even write music (something she literally stated in the Billboard interview).

Discuss anything related to what I said :gaycat:

Yeah I've seen this as a potential shade against BTW and ARTPOP...

Though she has done TFM in 6 months so I guess it's not about how many time she'll do LG5, but more about how she's working on it

Bloody Matt

But... Born This Way is my fav album :noparty:

OT: Anyway I'm really happy if she's in a better state of mind rn.

Well I suppose. BTW is still my favorite album by her, so I am not sure what is the definition of "quality". It's true that ARTPOP is not the best she can do, it wasn't too bad either. I just hope she takes enough time to write and make songs that are good, not judged by me, but by her. Like, I want her to make music that she is proud of, when releasing. Something that's made by her, and not made by her but edited to the point where it doesn't even feel like a true thing, if that makes sense. I want her to be happy with it, and not release it just for the sake of it.

Well I personally find BTW to be her best work, regardless if it was "rushed" or not. Some of the best albums are done quickly.

Definitely looking forward to hearing LG5 as it seems she's writing directly from the piano this time around, instead of writing melodies over beats (ARTPOP).

She's completely right. BTW and ARTPOP are step backs from her first two albums. Especially ARTPOP. Nothing she has done has ever come remotely close in terms of quality to her second album; The Fame Monster. She's finally seeing the light :applause:

That's obviously what she's implying.

Just made it 'cause like @yASSsss said (and thanks btw, buddy, I didn't even listen to it before you posted it lmao), not many people seem to have listened to the podcast interview.

I'm pretty sure Gaga's favorite album is TFM. Just look at how many time she said she loved art of the dark, she even said late 2014 that she would be able to make another album like TFM.

And she said early in the ARTPOP process, in 2012 if I remember correctly, that ARTPOP was like TFM's raver sister :nick: So I think you're right, she definitely seems to use it as a way to refer to her strongest work.

She is a living contradiction, because 1) Her family pressured her to get a record deal in 1 year. 2) TFM was made in 6 months, much time super quality huh 3) She needed a hit album. She got more than expected, but it obviously is catchy and repetitive in order to get a hit album/single. (Before y'all come for me, she's always been artistic for me, even in her "robotic" The Fame days).

Buy I somehow agree with her original statement, because EVERYBODY knows that ARTPOP ended up being a watered down version of her vision (the decay of the blonde popstar, princess Diana, Ratchet, etc, etc). So yes, the ARTPOP we got is just something she was pressured* to do. But so are all of her albums.

*=I prefer this term over rushed

I didn't mean to come across as shady toward you, sorry! :laughga:

Fans here will obviously try to dismiss this, but she's clearly just admitted to rushing BTW and ARTPOP.

She is talking about her first album (TF+TFM) and her second album (BTW) because I freaking love BTW, she can't drag it down like this.
