MIAMI VALLEY, Ohio (WDTN) – Animal cruelty has become such a problem for law enforcement the FBI is taking action.

Beginning in January of 2016 the FBI will track animal cruelty cases in Ohio and the nation.

Before now, animal abuse fell under an ‘other’ category lumped together with other less serious crimes, said Mark Kumpf with the Montgomery County Animal Resource Center.

The FBI already has national databases for crimes like murder and rape.  Now, law enforcement will track animal cruelty as well.

“This is the biggest change out of the FBI. This is a giant leap forward and people in law enforcement are hitting the ground running,” said Kumpf.

Local investigators will upload each cruelty case to the database. The cases will be divided into four categories: animal neglect, torture, organized abuse, like dog fighting rings and animal sex abuse.

The FBI will use the data to find patterns and identify ways to prevent animal cruelty.

...

Kumpf says in a couple of years when there are solid statistics it could be justification for federal funding.

Good, people who abuse animals are sick and disgusting. They should be persecuted heavily.

.. But now can we start improving conditions for our livestock as well? They're also being abused and tortured, but no one blinks an eye.

Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.

Damn. How much of a problem is it in Ohio that the FBI is required to intervene?

I knowww!!! I almost called the cops on some old ladies that kept abusing a cat by hitting it with brooms and throwing buckets of water at it

Then they started to yell at me in front of my door and my whole family came out and put them in their place and they were ready to call the cops, so the old ladies just went inside and I rarely ever see them outside anymore :laughga:

They are going to be busy but it's odd cause I doubt they would sue the meat industry due to its practice...

That's because people enjoy that torture, so it's okay. They're only against torutre they don't get enjoyment out of. (I completely agree with you btw, my comment is satire)
