Yes, that is correct. The winter months are the worst for northern Chinese cities. Note that China's energy consumption (2012) is 1174 GW. Adding 35GW of renewable energy isn't that much, maybe about 2.5% of total energy (especially considering the energy consumption must be at like 1400+ GW in 2016). It's maybe enough to cover the increase in energy consumption. Were talking 1 year. When ur so crammed and in geographical regions that dont get as much Ocean cleases its hard also its a developing nation so its hard to balance economic growth with environement. But they are doing a lot to reduce pollution - rising investments in non-fossil fuel energy - develop consumption based economy (less pollutant than industrial) - taxes to discourage car use and increase public transportations Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

It is! produces 50% to 60% more emissions than Crude Oil to generate equivalent amount of enegy... produces over 100% (over double) emissions than Natural Gas for same amount if energy Coal needs to be the first focus of elimination. Its the dirtiest fuel. But its also easier to replace than crude oil... Also to replace crude oil one thing youd need is more Electric cars... It will probably take quite a few years to find a permanent solution to climate change besides doing what we can do the curb it. Though it's going to be a tough battle in America because of Republicans who don't believe in Global Warming. This sh!t will kill our world if we don't stop and all they're doing on congress is just holding their bibles and saying "Nope." At least China will be able to do something. So if it's not in China, it will go to Vietnam, Bangladesh and India and eventually pollute just as much. A consumption based economy, however, means more total consumption in the world and thus more industry in the world. But other than that the Chinese government is doing a really good job! So long they get serious handling this, it won't be too late. It is only a shame they only realize this after their business sector got crippled by this problem. Also less pollution isnt the only reason they are increasing consumption i just listed it cause it was one of the reasons even tho not the only one And not all of it is displaced. If you consume a good it has to be manufactured but a service has little production associated with it with the exeption of a few tools you might use with it spending $15 at a packaged products from walmart is worse for environment than spending $15 at the movies or for a haircut If we can learn to enjoy more services and less material things, thats another way of helping environment while still enjoying luxury! Well America is taking some steps. Even small things you dont give much thought to or dont physically see can have a huge impact For instance America is building many new Natural Gas plants to close down Coal Plants that actually has a huge impact cause Coal is the most toxic of the fossil fuels and Natural Gas is the cleanest getting rid of Coal is actually a bigger deal for the environment than getting rid of Oil!
