AP will always have a special spot in my heart and I'm glad that it's the same for Gags too.

I'll never let my judgement on music get influenced by success, if I did, I'd probably say that 25 is a quality album like many other here did, and it is not.

it wasn't laaaahv

No I am not ashamed

ARTPOP was a travesty

only 5/15 are good, rest are ABSOLUTE FILLERS

C2C was a MASSIVE improvement

Maybe for you it was a travesty, but not for some of us in the fan base.  Yes, ARTPOP underperformed in comparison to her previous albums, but it sold just as much, if not more, than the other pop girls' albums so calling it a flop is just disrespectful.

If you bother to read the other post I made, I believe it's on page 2, you will see that most people here would be praising the album to the high heavens if it had sold just as much or more than TFM and BTW.  A lot of the people in this fan base are nothing but chart obsessed fans who allow the media to sway their opinion every which way.

I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.

No one actually does that, it's just a straw man used by fans who have no other means of defending an average album. People have explained ad-nauseam why ARTPOP was mediocre and/or disappointing and some people still do nothing but plug their ears saying "nanana I can't hear you, you're just chart obsessed". Sad and dumb :rip:

Oh, please!  Before the first week sales were released, mostly everyone here was praising the album left and right.  What happened as soon as the first week sales figures were released and it became public knowledge that the album only sold 258,000 copies?  The bashing began, that's what.

Look, I don't expect you to agree with me.  I'm just expressing my opinion the way other people here do it, so we can agree to disagree.

Yea I've seen this spouted plenty of times like I said, you're just repeating the same straw man relentlessly. You said to refer to your post on page 2 for evidence that the fanbase would love the album had it been successful, but on page 2 you just posted the same baseless hypotheticals with no references or evidence.

Saying that everyone loved it during the couple-day period when it had leaked and the sales projections had yet to emerge is useless cause a) I was spending a lot more time on these forums 2 years ago and I remember tons of people being disappointed in the album from day one, including myself, and b) the initial leak period is the worst time to try and gauge a consensus on an album because most people are affected by hype and haven't had time to digest the work at all. This is especially true in a pop fanbase that largely lacks in maturity and experience, and is prone to hyperbolic freakouts at the littlest of things.

You can agree to disagree sure, but it's not a subjective issue so it's a little silly to go about it that way. Ignorance is bliss I guess

I know for a fact that many people here were praising the album to the high heavens during the first week because I was new yet very active in this forum.  If I could pull some old threads prior to the new update I would, just to prove my point.  Of course there were some fans that were disappointed.  You can't expect every single member of this fan base to agree on something all the time now can you?

As for what you stated in your last sentence, this issue is most certainly subjective because people's opinions on the album are based on their personal taste and preference.  Anyway, I'm so done discussing this subject because I have my opinions and you have yours and I most certainly will not change my mind just like I don't expect you to change yours.

"ARTPOP or ARTFLOP: The Media's Manipulation of Lady Gaga's Album Sales

ARTPOP debuted at number one with first week sales of 258,000 [in us 611.000 copies worldwide]. In comparison, Miley's album Bangerz debuted at number 1 with sales of 270,000 copies, Perry's Prism debuted at number 1, moving 286,000 units and Britney's Britney Jean sold 107,000 copies, nabbing the number four spot. While Britney's album had the weakest debut, one can argue that the difference in sales between Gaga, Perry and Cyrus is not very substantial; their sales can all be considered in the same 'tax bracket.' Yet, "news" articles popped up from 'credible,' mainstream media outlets with a negative spin on Gaga's first week sales as compared to Perry's and Cyrus's.

Let's compare Yahoo! Music's articles on the debut of Miley's album to the debut of ARTPOP, shall we? Paul Grein, a writer for Yahoo! Music's "Chart Watch," wrote of Miley's debut: "While Cyrus' first-week tally isn't a record-setter, it's far from a dud...Bangerz sold more than Rihanna's Unapologetic, which sold 238K in its first week in November." The majority of the article goes on to defend why Cyrus's debut is impressive.

On the other hand, his article reporting on the debut of "ARTPOP" reads: "Where are all of Lady Gaga's little monsters? They came out in droves for Gaga's [last] album, Born This Way, but...ARTPOP is receiving a decidedly more tepid response from her social media-loving fanbase...Both Gaga and Rihanna are considered among the top female pop stars on the planet. As such, shouldn't they be able to drum up bigger first-week sales totals? You'd think so. So why didn't ARTPOP do better this week?" While Grein's article on Cyrus is focused on defending the album's 270K sales, his one on Gaga is spent analyzing why ARTPOP's 258K sales are sub-par. So I guess according to Yahoo! Music, a 12k difference in first week sales is what makes or breaks an album, even if both held the number one spot."

"Blair says he made about 300 instrumental tracks for Gaga, who "wrote upwards of 100 songs" herself for the album. "

Is this going to be released?
