Gaga's piano/childhood story. So what is the truth?

I'm not sure if this has been posted or discussed (I did a quick search but couldn't find anything) but it's really bugging me especially after Cynthia's Billboard speech.

She says in the speech that they were given a piano from Jo's father when Gaga wasn't even 1 year old and she wrote Dollar Bills when she was 6.

In the Oprah special with Gaga and Cynthia they say they bought a piano for her when she was 13 and that she started playing at age 4 and taking lessons at age 5 (Gaga hesistates and um's while waiting for Cynthia to answer for her, then agrees and repeats Cynthia's answer as is they hadn't planned that part beforehand) and had written her first song "by the age of 13".

Sooo what about her age in each story about her first song? I guess we could say "by the age of 13" could mean anything UNDER 13 but why say "by the age of 13"?

Also a Today show article says she started taking lessons at age 2.

TLDR: one source (her mother) says she was 6 when she wrote her first song, the other says "by the age of 13". One source says she started taking lessons at age 5, the other says 2.

ALSO- wiki and gagas wikia say she wrote her first song when she was 13.

Am I going crazy? I can't be the only one that notices inconsistencies with some of Gaga's childhood stories?

Well, maybe she touched the keys at 1, but a 1 year old cannot really take piano lessons so I would say she officially started playing at 4.

About writing her first song, there's the "Dollah Bills" story from Cynthia, but also "To Love Again" she mentioned in the Inside the Outside special which was at the age of 13. I honestly don't know which one is true or if they're both fabricated.

I interpret it this way (only listening to exactly what Gaga and Cynthia have said).

They had a piano since Gaga was 1. When she was 4, she started playing it (because she's old enough to touch the keys), and they realized she was talented. She began lessons then. She made a song called Dollar Bills as a child, but she made her first 'true' song at 13. They then bought her a 'real' piano and decided to nurture her musical talents.

:air:

Never paid that close attention to notice the differences.

I do know that she wrote her first "real" song at 13, "To Love Again". I don't think she takes Dollar Bills seriously as a composition :emma:

I thought she got a baby grand piano for her when she was 13 because she learnt to play Thunder Road by Bruce Springsteen.

I thought gaga wrote her first song at 13 called "to love again". I assume the Dollar Bills song was just a rip off of that Pink Floyd song Cynthia mentions afterwards so gaga doesn't count it?

Omg that's true, she did say that :applause: Nice memory.

Also, I'd like to add that it's impossible to take piano lessons when you're 2 years old :rip: That article must have been a mistake.

Yea that makes sense.. But there's so many different sides to the story it's so hard trying to add it all up. I actually typed so much originally but after seeing all the info in front of me I solved like 3 other issues I thought I had hahahaha.. But this age **** is ****ing me up. I think the safest conclusion is to just assume that Dollar Bills isn't considered her first song.

Well, my explanation is they're LIAAARRRSSSSS!!!!
THERE WAS NO PIANO EVER! NO LESSONS! NO NOTHING!
ALL WAS A BIG, FAT LIE! THAT BITCH HAS ONLY BEEN PRETENDING TO PLAY SINCE THE BEGINNING!
HOW DARE THEY TRY TO DECEIVE PEOPLE! TO WHAT, ENDEAR THEMSELVES? BITCHES!

Is that what you wanted to read/hear?
Has that made you happy?

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

That makes sense. I hope you're right! That just leaves their money struggles up in the air.. If I asked my mother for a birthday present that she'd have to take a loan out for, and that we already had one of, she'd smack me down.

They said the same thing tho

The piano their grandparents gift her was this one:

The piano her parents bought when she was 13 was this one:

She always told how she used to put her fingers on the piano when she couldn't even see the keys

And that she started with the piano lessons at 4

The only thing they differ is the first song she wrote. She says it was when she was 13, and her mum said it was when she was 6. But the titles they both mention are different so... maybe it is just that Gaga considers the song she wrote at 13 her first song , because the other one is not to be taken seriously.
