MTN and G.U.Y just cannot compare. Just look at the scene where Gaga poisons her boyfriend alone. Look at how many shots are incorporated. Close up of the ice, mid shot of gaga, close up of glass as the ice falls in, wide shot of boyfriend on couch, mid shot of Gaga, close up of lips, low side shot of Gaga pouring the drink, close up of drink pouring in, full shot of Gaga pouring the drink from the front, close up of ring with poison powder, close up of lips and teeth, full shot of Gaga putting the poison in, close up of powder falling into drink, full shot of Gaga, close up of lips, close up of glass getting picked up, mid shot of Gaga stirring, close up of spoon being lifted out of glass, high side shot of Gaga putting the spoon to her mouth, close up of spoon in mouth, mid shot of Gaga licking the spoon, close up of Gaga's face, full shot of Gaga's body, wide shot of boyfriend and Gaga, mid shot of Gaga, close up of Gaga, closeup of boyfriend taking glass, mid shot of both, closeup of boyfriend drinking, wide shot of boyfriend drinking, closeup of boyfriend's face, closeup of Gaga drinking tea, long shot of boyfriend, gaga and drink station, closeup of Gaga, closeup of boyfriend, mid shot of Gaga and boyfriend, closeup of boyfriend, mid shot of Gaga and boyfriend, closeup of Gaga and boyfriend's feet as glass and ice drops, close up of Gaga's smile, mid shot of Gaga next to body, closeup, mid shot, close up, wide shot, mid shot of them both, closeup of boyfriend and so on. Gaga doesn't have that sort of shot coverage in the videos she directs, she doesn't have the attention to detail. She is nowhere near being as complex a director as the pros. I wouldn't expect her too, but I just couldn't help but but in cause Jonas is like a fave of mine. OT: Of current pop stars yes, I believe Gaga is the most talented artist. Mostly as a performer. Ok, I think you guys are misunderstanding what I am saying. I do agree that these directors that Gaga works with are really good providing crisp clean visuals, and amazing scenes (better than Gaga). But Gaga is just better at being more original and creative than these directors. Her final results end up being a bit all over the place, but you can tell the overall ideas are much more complex, fresh, and grand. Now my whole, point of mentioning this side of Gaga was simply to point at the she does have talent in directing and that there aren't many popular artists that have all of these talents Gaga has. My point is that less is more, especially in music videos, and if we didn't have so many different things going on, the music video could have dedicated longer screen times to a few scenes, making it more memorable. The best scenes in the music video are only about 3 seconds long, and it's just super messy. Like, if you blink, you've already missed 5 different scenes. You are right in that she doesn't present reality television in a negative way. This was another comment on art mixing with pop culture that she had going with her ARTPOP concept.
