But I think she did this on purpose to add a mysterious edge to her character. She's practically a robot now then. Everything that comes out of her mouth seems so rehearsed and sometimes I think she lies because she always looks nervous, shakes her leg, cracks her knuckles and does the awkward wig scratch whenever someone asks her a question she claims to be informed about but isn't really. After years of doing that it understandable she is tired but look at the SXSW wasn't she on fire on that performance? Wasn't she on fire on the swinefest? Yep she was Thats why i loved ARTPOP , she slays live WTF is MDNA

She was unpredictable, you didn't know what she was going to say because she was always shrouded in mystery. After Born This Way through to the end of ARTPOP her interviews just became a checklist... 1. Mention love for fans 2. Mention art 3. Talk about position in pop music 4. Go home This is true. But during the TF and somewhat TFM eras, Gaga was really trying to be a character. She was performance art 24/7. Actually I think that this is a very original idea from Gaga. Being a character even one your not performing on stage. But starting with BTW, she began to show her emotions.

I'm sorry but this interview alone is more honest and real than most of the crap she says today It's crazy that she was 22 year but was more level headed and didn't feel the need to patronize celebrities who don't write their own music. I personally thought she was more intelligent in her early 20s. I still love Gaga but I don't care much for her personality now I'm just looking forwards towards her next album which I hope it good because she hasn't been able to top the fame or the fame monster in my eyes. THANK YOU! I cant with these BTW TFM stans and their lack of research. She was so real and fierce, now she's so insecure and pretentious (shading other artists and her past work and doing **** to her face) I think she says all of that just because she's pressed bc her "Flops" or something ? She constantly played around with her perception and mystery, the second you thought you understood her she would go and wear a strap on to fuel rumours. She'd either be really fun and have a laugh in interviews or remain mysterious and literally lead the entire interview by baiting them. I think she was more emotional in Born This Way and knew what she wanted but I can't say the same with ARTPOP. in 2013 / 2014 her replies became so planned it was pretty bad to watch, it was probably due to a lack of confidence because when she came off script she looked so awkward. Although I love her interview on Graham Norton, it's painful to watch her try to crack a joke and stare at the audience hoping they'll laugh. It's like she just completely lost herself. I don't know I just think she's sort of ashamed of her past and tries to paint this new image of herself to convince people she's an old soul. I mean she was a big britney fan and believe me she was, the fact that she knows "Deep In My Heart" and "When Your Eyes Say It" just shows you that she's purchased every britney album because those songs are non singles and only known by her fans. She's always been vocal about how she feels about artists lip syncing but she's never been so pretentious and patronizing towards them. It's sort of like she thinks of them as less of a person than she is which is quite degrading and sad.

XoXoJoanneGaga 629
It is objectively her most interesting and conceptual era. I don't see how anyone could be a Gaga stan and dismiss the idea of an entire era as performance art in favour of just being a normal person with a great voice, singing standards I mean, I could understand that if her "real" personality gave way to truly fascinating interviews and songwriting, but so far we've yet to see that. Her BTW-ARTPOP interviews were mostly disingenuous and put-on given that she was forcing a smile and masking depression + exhaustion in order to keep up her role as a pop girl. Many of her ARTPOP interviews give serious RobotNey teas, and I'm kinda getting that vibe from some of her recent interviews too although she's clearly happier and healthier now. And as for her songwriting all of her albums so far have been written in the same vein and she has get to get any more honest or "real" with her lyrics, the only thing that changed is that her albums got progressively less conceptual and coherent. If her next album strips away all of the Gaga "artifice" and delivers some brilliant and emotionally honest songwriting that isn't just anonymous Adele-tier ballads, than I'll be all for her transformation and the dissolution of the Gaga persona. But as of right now she's had progressively less to say with each passing era, both on and off record.

It reminds me of how Britney is now too, all of her smiles are faked, she gave up on the fight with Jive for her career after Original Doll (who?) and she hardly even ever speaks in interviews anymore, and when she does its obviously scripted. I hope Brit and Gaga crush this point of both of their careers

And I always thought she was humble and down to earth, actually. I think people have a really skewed vision of what The Fame era felt like. FameGa would NEVER have said that the music industry should stop hiring people who don't write their own songs. She usually refused to talk about other artists or celebrities because she didn't consider it her business. Her personality in 2008 is a big reason why people cared about her: she was a passionate, talented woman who had something to say beyond her gimmicks. The idea that she was just being a robot and never saying anything substantial is a major fabrication. This was a problem I had with TFMGa. After all those interviews in 2008, where it was like she was just a 22-3 year old woman who happened to be an international superstar, she closed up her personality and put up a barrier of fake accents and stiffness. She finally dropped the accents but what she says is just, IDK, bitter sounding, I guess? Bitter towards the modern music industry. Unless she's talking about Tony, her fans, or AHS.
