For Taylor Swift's birthday, Billboard has released an updated list of her top songs based on its point system.

Just before the 1989 era began, Billboard released her top hits, and the top 5 were:

1. You Belong With Me (Fearless)

2. Love Story (Fearless)

3. I Knew You Were Trouble (Red)

4. We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together (Red)

5. Mine (Speak Now)

But now her top 5 hits are...

5. I Knew You Were Trouble (Red)

4. Love Story (Fearless)

3. Blank Space (1989)

2. You Belong With Me (Fearless)

1. Shake It Off (1989)

Here's their announcement:

Not ecstatic with Shake It Off being at the top :rip: I mean sure it's a nice song but the others are so much better :laughga:

Should've stopped at Love Story

I agree. Gagadaily user Phoenix is a far better metric of when somebody should stop chasing their dreams than sales, charts, or logic. :bye:

It's just an opinion, don't take it so hard. :laughga: It's just that I preffer her older work compared to Shake It Off.

I think Style is her best song. Even though it didn't keep up with the number one expectation, it's my favorite song off 1989.

I also agree that the other songs are better, but Shake It Off out-performed all of her other singles; it spent 24 weeks in the Top 10 of the Hot 100 and over a year on the chart.

This is the top 5 hits in terms of sales and airplay right?

Otherwise, the absence of Style immediately disqualifies it.

Oh yeah I totally get that this chart is based on commercial performance :) I'm just surprised that the other songs didn't do better or that Shake It Off did better than them :laughga:

yes, it based on their point system. Before streaming was used, it was just sales and airplay, but when they added streaming they redistributed the percentages of what each element is worth. So even though songs like "You Belong With Me" and "Love Story" didn't have streaming, the potential amount of points a song could earn was equal between streaming and none streaming periods.

Here I thought I was the only one that liked Trouble. Glad to see that's not the case (as it usually is for me). :laughga:

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."
