Did ARTPOP's quality reputation suffer because of its success?

I feel like a lot of the bad reputation ARTPOP has in regards to the quality of music and even music videos has to due with its under-performing success. When you listen to the album without thinking about any of its campaign problems, the album is actually really good and enjoyable. And you can tell that a lot of work went into it. So I think that many fans, critics, and the GP began to criticize its quality and claiming that Gaga lost her creativity just because she wasn't doing as good commercially as she usually did. And a lot of the times you could tell this was the case because Gaga's commercial success was the first thing they mentioned in their reviews.

As much as they deny, I can tell you their minds are to a certain extent influenced by its chart and commercial performance.

I try not to let that affect me. If ARTPOP sold 10,000,000 copies worldwide, people would drag you to hell for calling Born This Way a better album.

it's actually an amazing album.
i don't consider the public's opinion of ARTPOP when i'm listening to it and no one should let that effect them during their own listening experience.

at the end of the day, Gaga's ARTPOP sales are on par with her contemporaries, she was compared to her previous accomplishments; which were extremely impressive.

let's just hope that LG5's era is solely judged on the musical content of the album, not the amount it sells.

I don't understand the "ARTPOP didn't do well commercially" sh*t. The 3rd best selling album by a female in 2013 is hardly a flop. I'm laughing because it's mostly Katy and Madonna fan Gaga haters that attack her. FYI Do What U Want peaked higher than Brondey, TIHWD, and Unconditionally with less radio AirPlay and no music video. Dark Horse and Roar did well because they were played every hour on like every radio station. And Madonna fans  GUY peaked higher than the highest peaking single from Rebel Heart Bitch I'm Madonna. I love both of them but give that info to the haters :reductive: 

P.S. I'm not trying to flamebait but this is serious, seeing as how they are the two fan bases that constantly hate on Gaga's music videos. Its addressing numbers as a whole and I'm not generalizing the fan base as a whole.

Born This Way didn't sell 10 million copies. It sold around 8 million copies worldwide I think. 10m was just an example.

Hopefully.  But it's not easy to sell 2 million copies AFTER the era so I'm not sure when it will hit that mark.

ARTPOP just kept getting compared to Gaga's other albums, which is completely understandable, but to some people, that's why it "flopped". The album itself, when not compared to her other works actually did pretty well, but because people wanted something more from her, they just thought of it was a "flop" and a "failure".
