Gaga: Diane will tell you, it was really hard for me when [the song] came out. I was really stressed out about it. Every time I listen to it, I cry. Every time I get a text about it, I always feel sick. It's like this thing you don't want to face. But because she wanted to face it with me, it reminded me of what the song is for.

When you've looked terror in the eye and you go numb like that, it's like something really dies in you. And that's something Diane really helped me with. I'm the artist on the other side, going, "I don't know if I can reveal this, Diane," and she's saying, "You can." But I had to forgive myself. I had to sit down at the piano and say, "You didn't provoke that person. It's not your fault." For women to be as sexualized as we are in the media and then to be judged for wanting to be sexual beings, that, to me, is a cage. We can't survive unless we're beautiful, but if we're beautiful, we're asking for it.

A lot of strength in that picture. Beautiful.

And my goodness, how well-spoken she is about women and assault :applause:

Thanks for sharing!

it's one of my top 10 Lady Gaga songs :applause: the message is just so powerful you can really tell by her voice during song

Actually, her point about women's role in society is so on point it hurts to face the truth. And I'm so fed up with the kind of men that are always discussing a woman's appearance in a disrespectful way.[Look at her a$$, wow, man those tits, I'm so gonna lay her, etc.] They strongly favour the oversexualised image so that they show they're "real men". And then they are the first one to criticise (and this is a weak way to put it) women for acting like whores, sluts, etc.

So first, they call for such kind of behaviour from the woman, but then pan it and mock it. For the man, the bigger the number of women he slept with, the more "man" he is. For the woman, the bigger the number, the bigger slut she is... :toofunny::grr:

These stories remind me how much even the assumingly developed world needs to catch up on perceptions and values. This is a disfunctional society, and many fall prey to it, be it men or women. :wtf:

"Diane doesn't co-write with anybody, ever — it meant a lot to me; it was really a gift. She was saying, 'I want to share this with you; this is ours.' And that's what we're saying to people: We want to share our pain with other people."

I love that part

But I'm only a man and I do what I can.

Gaga looking like her Mother!! Loves it, that fierce Mother Monster

What she said was simple but pretty on point. I hope she really furthes this topic in future songs.

We need real feminism in pop culture, what Spice Girls did and Beyonce do is old. We need real lyrics that serve society and an insight from a woman that knows a lot about life, though she's very young. Hope she talks about gender in general. This song is quite good but it's lacking too much, i want some Patti Smith realness or higher than that.

Why was she tense about it. She must have known the song sounds good and everybody would love it

Gaga is so right about "the cage". I feel the same as Gaga. This picture is surely a beauty as well, those eyes are so gorgeous!

I do really love this song, but I just can't listen to it much, because I cry every time too. It just hits me hard.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

Dark Anatomy

This further confirms my theory that the MTN video is about her being raped and impregnated by a Def Jam producer/employee, and having an abortion. She might have been promised that if she got rid of it, her album and everything would take off. When she lost both her child and her dream she collapse and re rose from the ashes as Lady Gaga.

Pretty dark, but i'd believe it.

I can't help but feel that's very romantic. She's a true romantic heroine, for me.
