No one wants to touch it because it doesn't result in immediately palpable benefits for voters. It does the opposite. So that's a big risk for your popularity. Some people will do anything omg.. It's undoubtedly connected, there are convincing arguments for it and not just ones made by liberals. And people only started to talk about it now because (a) it's almost too late; (b) if there is a relation between the two (and I personally believe there is, though I haven't heard a serious politician say it's the direct cause of IS, that would be dumb) we're obviously better off taking care of it. I'm not a liberal btw. I just think the idea of calling for awareness about climate change to further your political position is absurd since it's nothing really anyone wants to hear or invest in. I doubt any Isis fighter would say climate change is the reason im an Isis fighter. Its crazy. Have you read the arguments? And I get what you mean with the second paragraph. But I think that's rather due to poor communication and politicans not really being educated about it themselves. Which ultimately created the instability, which terrorists were able to take advantage of. Climate change is a major accelerant.
