Theory: LG5 will Obliterate Adele's 25 in terms of sales

I'm just running my mouth here... but given all of Gaga's performances this year, and how well Gaga is warming up to the older generation crowd, I have a very strong feeling that LG5 is going to be her most successful album to date. I think it's going to obliterate 25 in terms of sales and is going to solidify her as a permanent pop culture icon for decades. Just saying....

This Frank Sinatra performance just confirms it for me. I think she has officially won back the GP.

I respect and almost agree with your opinion, however I feel like a lot of this kind of hype and and expectation was done for ARTPOP which may or may have not contributed to the way it was perceived. Idk. Its wonderful to be hopeful, but I'd rather her blow everyone out of the water unexpectedly than set our expectations to such a high bar and then be barely satisfied when it doesn't reach that expectation. (Not saying it wont.)

If LG5 was coming after BTW and a 5 year leave, it would annihilate everyone and everything. I think ARTPOP sort of ruined the chances of that because there's no longer surprise that Gaga's intelligent and incredibly talented. Unfortunately ARTPOP had a way of conveying that as well as denting her image. When she goes on the Grammys next year or whatever and gives the performance of her life, nobody's going to go crazy. They'll respond well but it won't be as big of a surprise as it should be. I do think this era will be her most pure, true, and genuine yet, though. No more gimmicks, no more unhappiness, no more almost killing yourself by touring for 10 years. She's finally free to do what she wants (sort of like where she was in 2007-2008. Pure Gaga.)

Kevin Parker, Mac Demarco, Mark Ronson, and a stoned Lady Gaga. Need I say more?

Maybe? I mean, I do see her all over now, even when I'm not looking for her...and her image is insanely repaired. I think she'll bust sales for sure but Idk about touching, what, 10 million in a week? :toofunny:

Adele is just ridiculous but Gags will definitely have another number one album and year of crazy chart success :nick:

I have no idea what LG5 will do with sales. The thing is, she is so versatile, it will be extremely difficult to put all of her talent in one album. She gets praise for these events singing tributes and acting, but when it comes back to pop - will people respond the same way? I'm not sure what kind of sound would incite an incredible reaction like that.

Also there is no way any album will come close to 25 this decade. It's not a record anyone should consider breakable for a while IMO.

Adele is appealing to all generations, which Gaga is starting to, but I think Gaga could only top Adele if she has a crazy-good and catchy single that blows up. I think she's very capable of doing so, but it's a question of whether or not she is aiming for artistic integrity or chart success.

I agree that Gaga is winning over another generation and audience with her work with Tony, her Oscars performance and tribute performances like the incredible Frank Sinatra tribute we just got. I also agree that LG5 has a pretty good shot if she continues to show off her talents in the lead up and delivers some great music.

I'm cautious of saying she will deliver better sales than Adele though. Adele has that audience behind her already, and while the audience she has collected with Tony might appreciate her talent we don't know if they will like the music she releases with LG5.

Adele also has the benefit of coming off an era like 21, has a very down-to-earth image (which I'm not sure Gaga has with the GP in her designer outfits and extravagant shows) and has the power of the UK behind her. Adele is the UK's biggest international star by far. She got an entire special on the BBC dedicated to her and hosted by Graham Norton, the initial excitement she received was created first in the UK because she basically had an entire country's media behind her.

She can't release a 21 or 25 and expect the same success, that's Adele's thing and she needs something to distinguish herself from the crowd.

I think Gaga is talented enough to be in it for the long run and I think the edge she has on her contemporaries rn is not just her voice but a drive to get into more mature music that sets her apart from the fresh talent (Ariana, Selena, Iggy) and from girls such as Katy who seem trapped in this very straight bubble gum pop box. I hope that LG5 has a sound somewhat similar what we heard from I Want Your Love, that disco sound seems like a perfect transition from her dance-pop past and her Jazz sensibilities.

She has created a very breeding ground for a very successful era. But she needs to do it also in europe.

She sung the at the baku games, that was good. But we need more collaborations and events likes this for europe.

But I think the music will be great, i'm sure with intelligent performances and planning there will be enough chances to show in Europe  during next era what she is capable to do .

Bobby and Gaga know what they are doing (:

I think this could be valid, assuming that her music can appeal to a WIDE audience, much like 25. If her music is BTW-esque then i'm not sure because not everyone wants that :laughga:

Well, it's obvious she won't pull anywhere near Adele numbers. If she plays her cards perfect we may be in for another BTW sized era. She really should go for a funky-disco sound if she wants to see success. The GP loves that sound as we saw with Uptown Funk. I remember all the adults were talking about how they loved that song.

I think that LG5 will be her '21'- a very successful album that will act as a foundation for an even more successful album afterwards. LG6 will be her '25', just watch. :flutter:

You don't deserve a point of view if the only thing you see is you.
