So I have been saying this for a while now, digital single sales are pretty much a thing of the past. If you are watching Kworb right now the #4 to #7 songs are averaging about 50k to 74k a week. That's not very promising for the future of digital sales. Last year those same spots were moving 80k to 115k. Here is an article that goes more in depth.

Basically popular music is becoming less popular thanks to streaming. Apple made a smart choice moving to streaming, my guess is Apple Music will continue to grow and iTunes will die as soon as the website become to expensive to operate, but that is probably ten years down the road.

If i make a song it'll be 1:30 so people have to play it over and over again to get their fix

I feel like this is going to cause artists to stop streaming like Adele and TS

Not when Adele is here now

Even Adele cannot keep an entire format of music alive once every three years.

YouTube and Souncdcloud are the death of the music industry sales...

I can play whatever WHENEVER without having to pay for anything

I do buy physical albums but only if I like AT LEAST more than half the album

Otherwise bye

The last album I bought was ARTPOP...that says something especially with the crap music that's come out lately...

Stream my new single, 💜"Heartbeat"💜, on Spotify!

They really need to find a way to make Youtube more profitable for music.

I buy music whenever i can but when i don't have the money, i pirate. it's not something i am proud of or like doing, i just don't have the money. they should have a discount thing for low income people. I do however buy albums though but for singles i get them illegally

It's crazy cuz technically Youtube is offering a paid subscription for no ads etc but who would pay? You can skip most ads after 5 seconds... :awkney:

Plus...YouTube would have to separate music videos from other videos uploaded

Then YouTube Music could be a music service where you specifically pay for music so it can be unlocked...otherwise...it's been YEARS where people have been enjoying music for free and would be too late to try and restrict it...

It would be damaging to YouTube

That's so sad. I miss the time when CDs/vinyls was the thing :noparty:

I know lots of people that do the same. I'm not saying it's "right," but you aren't alone. I myself will pirate an album or single to sample because I have difficulty streaming stuff on my computer (which is weird). If I like what I hear I eventually buy it and delete the pirated copy. I like to listen to things a few times because sometimes things take a while to grow on me or I may grow tired of it after the fourth or fifth listen. I'd wager about 3/4ths of what I've pirated I've wound up buying, but for that fourth I'm glad I didn't waste the money. I do try to support the artist though by purchasing their work.

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."

I don't use streaming (and am not a fan of it) since I'm on a limited data plan and my phone doesn't have much memory space.

I don't think physical albums will go away or that digital music retailers will go either...

Until then I'll continue to legally buy music and put it on my iPod.

I buy CDs for albums, digitally buy singles, download some singles, am subscribed to Spotify, and watch on YouTube. Only thing I don't use is satellite radio.
