mee 381
There were a time were Lady Gagas pop performances were very well balanced. Singing, choreography, theme, theater and accessoires have complemented each other and made it a unique high professional performance. I think about performances like for example of course VMAs 2009, Lovegame on Ellen, Dance in the Dark at the Brits, Taratata 09...but also about the C2C show with Tony Bennett on CBS. This kind of shows were really good because they are coordinated intelligently. I've noticed that Gaga and her team at BTW phase had lost sometimes the intuition for precise placement of the various elements which makes an interesting and a refined show. At some point it was just too much and not clever or interesting at all, but very chaotic and overloaded with stuff. During ARTPOP there were massive up and downs, from good to disappointing and embarrassing. So that's what i wish for LG5. Precise placement of the various elements which makes a really good gaga-esque show, but were you can see and hear her talent. The performance should frame her talent and not hide through much stuff. Nino 12
The whole point of a many performances were meant to feel all over the place and kind of messy.
monketsharona 80,349
I want choreos but less messy than during ARTPOP, it kinda wasted some of her performances because of her breath And she needs outfits that allows her to dance easily

Glamourpuss 29,062
The ARTPOP era had some of the worst what you call "gimmicks". I think that's because alot of the time there was no artistic meaning. It was weird for weirdness' sake. And it was messy and all over the place most times such as the Xfactor performance of Venus. It started off great with the guitar but then when she went into DWUW it wasn't so good. But every other era had a good balance and well thought out performances. Volantis and the Ipad dress come to mind as gimmicky because they were. The living dress from the past was a work of art and iconic. And Volantis wasn't even aesthetically pleasing or practical. It was like Gaga just wanted a dress that could fly just to be the first to do it. It would have been better if she could have saved the idea for the future when technology has improved. You're making it out to be more tasteful than it was She literally had somebody vomit on her, recorded song actually titled "Sexxx Dreams", and made a power ballad about weed. The whole idea was to be insane and tasteless.

Well, as much as I love her antics and "gimmicks" I think they'll be going down the "let's show off the talent" road. The way she spoke about her image overshadowing her talent in her WoTY interview kind of solidifies that. For LG5 she'll show the world what she's capable of and it will be grand 🌸Flourishing and vibrant🌼
elijahfan 26,067
The unnecessary shade at the BTW era... I've never understood why so many fans complain about the BTW era performances: each one of her appearances were events, no performances looked the same, the production was always big... I mean, it was a blockbuster era. That was true entertainment and as pop fans, that's also what we're here for. I'm all here for the gimmicks. And she also needs to wear simple clothing when she wants to talk about something serious or personal (not like Inside The Outside MTV's interview mess). But I think her team has already noticed about that, because she wore a plain outfit on the Emotion Revolution Even, for people to focus on the speech and not the costumes
lxdygxga 3,353
I think the 'fashion robot' quote in Billboard was a sign that she's toning down the fashion and focusing on the music. Sure, she might be as daring as ever in her choices, but I think they'll be less avant garde pieces, with more focus on what she's performing. REALITY 76,275
I wouldn't call them "gimmicks" for the reason that it's Gaga's art. Her fashion is a part of her, and even if she's toned down her fashion recently, it's still a huge part of who Lady Gaga is. Anyways, regarding the OP, I think it's obvious that it'll be "performance quality over fashion 'gimmicks'". She's now able to really focus on her music and Bobby even says that he wants to "press the reset button". 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎
