They're not stupid to sit in some camps away from regular people. And when these Western governments realize there is no much improvement, they will want to increase the bombing which will lead to more civilian deaths. If you learned anything from 9/11 and Bush/Blair brilliant "war on terror" and how it created even more terrorism, you wouldn't be asking me this. I'm not a politician and I'm not the one voting whether to murder people or not to stop the terror. IS is not a damn country, they literally want West to bomb them. Journalists and especially politicians just never mention them and especially the latter category is keen on pretending there just is no other solution but to negotiate (which obviously is impossible) or to full-out destroy them (which is equally impossible since ISIS jihadism has become a global phenomenon, so Syria strikes will not eliminate the problem at all). Two alternative ways I think are worthy of exploring - there are Salafist (= commonly understood as "Islamic fundamentalism"; Muslim groups who believe that the modern West has corrupted the Middle East and Islamic states need to be created that correspond to the Mohammedan ideal) groups who explicitly reject any use of violence, also based on a reading of the Qur'an. These groups exist in the same areas as violent jihadi Salafist groups exist. They're usually comprised of people of older generations because they haven't been exposed to online propaganda and constant news feeds of "Muslims dying all over the world" (an image ISIS uses to gain followers): they know less about political movements today which is why younger people don't feel attracted to them. Some scholars urge that we need to create more awareness about this group of Islamic extremists to break up the idea that Islamic fundamentalism can only ever be expressed in physical violence. They believe that if these Salafists are invested in, so that they are fully educated about contemporary political events, they will have more opportunities to promote their own image of Islamic fundamentalism, which is one that can unproblematically co-exist with Western authority and could get a constructive Islamic dialogue starting. - Bernie Sanders (which is important since he could have a major pull in the region if he becomes president) supports another scholarly view that runs counter to what ISIS wants: for Middle Eastern countries themselves to take up arms against these Islamic groups, since Western intervention is a perfect tool for them to gain followers, which would become impossible if Middle Eastern resistance became stronger and Western powers merely support this resistance instead of take the lead. This also allows the political situation there to develop naturally without potentially dangerous (as proved by the past) Western decisions in governing, which has time and time again led to corruption within "Western approved" governments, allowing countries to collapse. The international response to 9/11 in the Middle East has literally laid the foundation for ISIS and the problems we face with it today. So no, there are indeed alternative points of view.
