Better Day 5,766
MPs have voted by 397 to 223 to authorise UK air strikes against so-called Islamic State in Syria. Prime Minister David Cameron argued in a Commons debate that action against the "medieval monsters" of IS was legal and would "keep our country safe". Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said the case for war "does not stack up" - but his party was split, with senior Labour figures voting with the government after the 10-hour debate. RAF bombing raids could begin soon. Together You And I!

homomo 23,883
Air-striking where? Towns with innocent lives? If that's the case, this is absolutely disgusting. 0110100001100101011011000110110001101111

Mobster 14,604
The only thing separating the air strikes from the "medieval monsters" is the technology... EDIT: Apparently my comment wasn't clear enough (?) The air strikes are just as inhumane as the "medieval monsters" they are seeking to free this world from But I'm only a man and I do what I can. Didymus 34,380
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO **** I was so sure all the protests would help. This is bad news. This is EXACTLY what ISIS wants, it's even in their ****ing philosophy manuals and shet. It's because of that that I think some political leaders are intentionally driving us into chaos. They want open war, which is exactly what will supply new currents of jihadis.
Didymus 34,380
"Medieval monsters" too oh dear. In medieval times this sort of violence in the name of Islam didn't even exist. This is a distinctly modern development and erasing that fact from public consciousness isn't helping a bit. Does anyone else agree that political leaders that are already elected shouldn't even be discussing this or making decisions? I mean, we live in democracies for crying out loud, I don't feel it's right that politicians can just decide to put our lives in possibly unnecessarily heightened danger when we don't even know they know what they're doing

As if ISIS would ever stop attacking us... Unfortunately you can't negotiate with these scumbags, so we have to destroy them. I really hope though, that the "collateral damage" will be very low. Bear 7,515
I'm not the most educated on this whole topic but I really don't know if this will help. I get the need for action, but isn't this playing directly in to ISIS's hands? It's giving them a tool to justify their actions and to recruit which is what they have wanted all along. Furthermore, if the bombings aren't strategic and end up harming civilians, which will happen, wouldn't the bitter feelings this would cause only further encourage people to join ISIS? ISIS is based on an ideology, something that isn't going to be destroyed by weapons. I don't have a solution, but this isn't it either
Morphine Prince 109,691
I agree with getting rid of the terrorists. Air strikes are good since only the targets are affected, however, I think governments should reconsider these airstrikes or at least make more planned drone strikes in which innocent people aren't hurt. It's incredibly sad that innocent people are killed in these things. Plus, I feel like this is what ISIS wants and their ideology will just spread more.
