Mr Judas 4,106
Flooding in the metro city of Chennai. The 4th largest city in India, has been receiving torrential downpours of rains since early October. Chennai, is the largest city in south India, and has an urban agglomeration population of 10 million. November 2015 recorded 1055 mm of rains, against the record of 1088 mm. This pelting has caused all reservoirs to fill up, and water has been released causing flooding for the second time in 2 weeks. Life has come to a grinding halt as 2 rivers flowing through the city are flooding its banks. On 1st Dec Chennai recorded 24hrs rainfall of 250mm (avg) and some Areas even reporting upwards of 450mm. Water has flooded all main roads and there is almost nil transport available. Airport is closed, electric trains stopped due to water on tracks, public bus services halted due to greater than 4ft water on roads. Metro trains also halted. Millions of people are suffering as flood waters are entering homes. Weathermen are forecasting very heavy rains to continue for 2 more days. #prayforchennai I live in a better part of the city and thankfully my street is not flooded(Yet).
