Taylor Swift deserves her nominations, no matter what some ppl say, Blank Space is an amazing song. Self derision written and sung perfectly in studio, it has that kind of flow that never stops on chorus.
Hope it'll earn every Grammy :gaycat:

The Grammys don't get to just nominate at will. Artists send in what they want to be considered from their work and then the committee nominates from that. Taylor didn't send in Style or Wildest Dreams for any of the categories.

I know, so why wouldn't she submit all her work up until this point? It was critically praised and it all went top ten, so it stood a chance. I mean, Wildest Dreams is pure Grammy bait. Do you have a list of what she sent in and can it be confirmed?

Nominations are made for each single song then, which splits the vote. The people won't vote to nominate Style AND Wildest Dreams AND Blank Space. She chose her submissions quite wisely.

As far as I remember she submitted Blank Space for ROTY, SOTY, and Bad Blood for Pop Duo thing and Music Video

I guess so, limiting submissions are less likely to split the vote. I never noticed until now actually, but is there a rule against nominating the same artist for more than one song per category? I've just realised now that its always been 5 different artists per category, never multiple submissions. Makes it not as fair though - what if an artist has 2 undeniably perfect songs in an album but only one can even get the honour of a nomination? Shouldn't it be about nominating the best music, regardless of how many duplications there are the same artist?

I'm trying to quote your second post but it keeps giving me this, not sure why. Anyway: I agree with your point on that if there are 2 perfect songs by the same artist were released they should both be nominated, but I think it has to do with politics. That being said, people do submit several songs for the same category, Gaga submitted both TIHTY and Winter Wonderland for ROTY. But the likelihood of either song racking up enough nominations is quite small.

I googled to see if someone has ever been up in the same category against themselves and couldn't find anything, I highly doubt it.

Ok I looked it up because I thought if anyone could do it it'd be Michael Jackson and in 1984 he was nominated in the category Best Rhythm & Blues Song for Billie Jean and Wanna Be Startin Something (Billie Jean won). For Song of the Year he was also nominated for Billie Jean and Beat It (the Police ended up winning it, likely because the Michael Jackson songs split the vote for him)

Everything she sent in was nominated

Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

I'm still really, really, really sad about Carly Rae's snub.

Emotion is probably one of my favorite album of 2015 and seeing it goes under the radar is heartbreaking.

Carly should really be given a chance more, it's so easy to dissmiss her because of Call Me Maybe.
