You were quoted as calling Lady Gaga's performance of "The Sound of Music" at this year's Oscars "a travesty." What was wrong with it?

That was a misquote, of course. I was inveighing against the producer for giving her that material to sing. I said that made a travesty of it because it's not exactly what she's used to or feels comfortable singing. Maybe she does, but she doesn't seem comfortable. So the entire thing was about the producer and not about her.

Little does he know, she began singing Jazz at the age of 13 and played the piano since she was 4... Jokes on you (and Shonda Rhimes , while I'm at it)

But I'm only a man and I do what I can.

Okay what the fock? Lame cover up. At least do something more creative. :madge:

"the entire thing was about the producer and not about her"

Are you kidding me? Iv seen only praise for her voice. Nothing on the producer.

BS. Did we all watch same performance?

In what world was she uncomfortable?

Or is it that he had prejudice against Gaga so he made that comment in advance. :neyde:

I have a feeling that this guy hasn't done his research.

Whatever.

It's not important whether he meant it or not. What's important is that he is apologizing for it, which means he recognizes Gaga's power.

it would be more honest for him to say that quote together with "That is what I initially thought! Until she blew me away with her flawless vocals and fantastic performance!"

I think we all watched the same performance, but I bet he fell asleep before Gaga even performed... In his defense, the Oscars were a bore up to that point
