'We're worried you might steal something': Apple ejects six black students, then apologises following claims of racism

A video showing a group of African students being asked to leave an Apple store at Highpoint shopping centre in Melbourne on Tuesday has caused widespread outrage on social media amid claims of blatant racism.

The video, which was posted on Facebook on Tuesday night, and has since been viewed more than 33,000 times, clearly shows an Apple staff member telling the Maribyrnong College boys that the store's security staff were concerned they were going to shoplift.

I've experienced this at the mall while i was in spear with my 4 black friends and they had workers follow and watch us like hawks the entire time. because apparently all black people are thieves.

I disagree with this point and what you're doing here is exactly what apple did in that situation. You're grouping a whole host of individuals into a single category. Im Aussie, am I racist? No. I appall all kinds of racism, overt, covert whatever it is. Yes there exists much racism in Australian government and in low socio economic Australian individuals or "bogans" as you will. Just because these heavily media filled aussies are labelled racist doesn't mean the rest of us are. But in turn the same thing could be said about the USA and the recent events that occur there.

I won't deny racists are live and well in USA,

however I didn't say all Aussies are racists, I said many of them are.

And as for my first line, it was referring to the Aussies who worked in the shop in question.

Not sure how you get the impression I was generalizing, perhaps it's in your mind,

The same happened to me and my friends only because they were black and some of us were too Arab looking.

And they represent the company, so Apple should apologize and give some free stuff to these guys as compensation.

Employees legally represent a company and so the company is responsible for their actions. It's like that for many reasons. 1) companies have more money 2) companies need an incentive to hire good people and 3) a company can't blame it's employees when it screws up and try to use them as a legal barrier.
