Morphine Prince 109,984
London (AFP) - Britain can survive outside the European Union, Prime Minister David Cameron said on Monday as he denied he was planning to campaign for Britain to stay in the EU regardless of the outcome of reform talks. "The argument isn't whether Britain could survive outside of Europe. Of course it could," Cameron told the annual conference of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), the country's main business lobby. "The argument is how we could be best off," he told the group, many of whose members are concerned about the economic consequences of a possible "Brexit". Cameron was interrupted by two protesters who stood up and chanted "Voice of Brussels!", reflecting a suspicion among eurosceptics that he has already made up his mind in favour of Britain staying in the EU. Cameron is to give more detail on Tuesday in a letter to European Council president Donald Tusk on Britain's reform demands ahead of a referendum that is due to be held by 2017 at the latest. Luc 4,776
The UK contributes nothing to the EU (besides money ofc). The UK is actually the reason the EU integration has been put on hold. Why does the conservative party want to leave? Because the EU is too socialist for them, but that's because of democracy, and not because of the bad structure of the EU. None of the proposals of the Conservative party actually seem to have the aim to reduce the amount of undemocratic organs of the EU, in fact, it is to Cameron's delight that the European Comission doesn't want the European Parliament to vote on the UK's yet to be made proposals to make the EU more market-orientated. What Cameron is doing, is dividing his whole country and the whole EU. Scotland will leave the UK and the UK will leave the EU (with possibly more countries to follow). But is it actually going to contribute to the UK's economy (Brexit)? No. It will ruin London's financial sector, and the assumption that the UK could sovereignly get free trade agreements is untrue, like recently said by a spokesperson for the Obama administration. In today's world you need to be part of a bigger thing to stay relevant. I still don't know whether I will be sad if the UK leaves, or not. I think that it would boost European integration (albeit having a negative effect in the beginning), and allow for the EU to become more social, but at the same time the UK does contribute to the European economy as a whole. VforVendetta 2,024
Of course the UK would say that. They never wanted to be on the EU anyway, the always knew what EU was (not that they care for the people or something more than any other country) they are just clever Captalists, they would never be fully a part of a Union that contributes to the interests of ''others''. Most of the biggest economists (most of them are awarded with nobels) had predicted from the beginning the nature of the Union and the dead end it would lead the Europeam economy. It's nothing more than full economic dominance of the Powerful countries to the weak and indirect colonization.
