Well Madonna and a lot other artists tried A LOT of different things too. And I actually wouldn't even have a problem if she MADE jazz music..But what she is doing is just karaoke. She is not doing anything creative atm.She is just singing old songs.

You lost me there. Singing an old song, interpretation, can be very creative. Saying that it is Karaoke is offending musicians that put their heart and soul into understanding that song and try giving it new life.

I can sing a aria from an opera of the 18th century, that has been sung some milion times before and be very creative. And it doesn't mean i'm going to change much of what the composer wrote in the score.

I think she gave great life to some 4 songs on C2C that made them totally relevant. That can be much more difficult that you'd imagine.

She most certainly does care for her fan base.  Too much, if you ask me.  Hence the reason the below occurred.  I wholeheartedly agree with the below post because I love music in general, not just pop.

I have been waiting for the day when Gaga starts rebelling completely against the average GGD consensus and finally the day of last judgment has come.

I couldn't be happier, I love Jazz and music in general.

I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.

The less she listens to fans the better, and that generally goes for all artists. No one could have envisioned or demanded Bad Romance after hearing The Fame. When she wasn't listening to fans, we got The Fame Monster. When she was listening to her fans so much to the extent that she was running outside the recording studio to play tracks for them and ask them what she should change, we got ARTPOP.

There's nothing wrong with being fans of other artists or being bigger fans of other artists  I'm glad that she isn't sat there constantly pandering to us fans, she has her own life and career and goals that she wants to achieve and I think we should want for her to do as she pleases. Her purpose as a human being isn't to please us and give us what we ask for.

If it so happens that the direction she wants to go coincides with our tastes then that's great :D If it doesn't however then that's unfortunate but it is what it is. We don't know the extent of her planning of either albums or the timeline or how things will go so I don't think we should get upset about her releasing another jazz album or starring in other shows or getting involved with anything that isn't a new pop album. It will happen, we just need to be patient :P

Head Empty

Of course she cares, but her first priority is keeping herself happy rather than keeping the fans happy. Doesn't mean that she doesn't also keep the needs of the fans in the back of her head.

And I'd say that everything she does for the BTWF is directly rooted in her longing to help her fans, but just not in a musical way.

Besides, it's only healthy that she's not simpyl pandering to whatever the fans are screaming for. Just like how it's healthy to enjoy the work of more than just one artist. Gaga isn't anyone's personal music slave - she's not our employee. She doesn't have to do what we want just because we spend time and money on her. We should simply enjoy her work and support her as long as we can, and if she happens to change direction into something we don't enjoy as much there are tons of other artists that might be a better match at that time.

Free My Mind

I voted "yes of course" but that doesn't necessarily mean she'll do everything the fans want.

I think she's learned over the years that in order for something to work SHE needs to want it as well as the fans, if she doesn't want it then she won't be able to put the same passion in.

From the end of TFM on in her career, she has cared too much. It's good to keep in touch with knowing what your fans want from you, but the reason we're all here is because of her ideas. If she's creating LG5 with more independence instead of catering to what her fans are begging and whining for, I'd be thrilled.

Born This Way was too influenced by the fans. As a commercial pop artist, she can't cater to a niche group constantly.

And I don't understand the complaining about another jazz album.. More music from Gaga? You know her pop album is coming whether or not she does it so who cares? Let her keep working with a legend and showing off her beautiful voice, it can only do good for her.

When it comes to her career I think Gaga cares about her fans but when she has to choose between making a choice her fans will be happy with and making a choice that will solidify her place in pop culture for decades, she's going to choose the latter. Sometimes they overlap, but you get what I mean.

And I'm totally fine with that. Gaga is thinking long-term and doing really great things in the short-term as a result. I'm okay with waiting longer for things like a new music video, pop album, etc.

Gaga has delivered some phenomenal things to the fans since she started. If we were to be asked "What has Gaga done that's so great?" we all have a huge list. Is it really so frustrating that she's doing something different right now? The thread's question is totally valid and fine for discussion, but sometimes I also wonder if fans truly care what Gaga wants as well.

SHE GAVE US AMERICAN HORROR STORY &    I WANT YOUR LOVE VIDEO.

That's enough to sustain us until the release of her new LG5.

We have no idea what's going to happen though. I could bet my life were going to get the new pop album first.

We might get another holiday single before year end, but not an album.

OT: she cares, but not as much as before.

I can't find the exact interview or quote, but Amy Lee from Evanescence recently said something to the effect that as the artist it's most important that you put out work you can always stand by and defend because you yourself love the work, whether anyone else does or not.  I think that is the absolutely best approach for Gaga, or any artist to take.
