Today, November 3, 2015 is election day in the US for local elections. In the city of Houston, TX Prop 1 was up for voting. It reads:

"Are you in favor of the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance, Ord. No. 2014-530, which prohibits discrimination in city employment and city services, city contracts, public accommodations, private employment, and housing based on an individual’s s-x, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, age, familial status, marital status, military status, religion, disability, s-xual orientation, genetic information, gender identity, or pregnancy?"

The bill is referred to as #HERO.

It is currently failing. 63% No, 37% yes (early voting). Stay tuned to see if it will pass.

Controversy arose with this bill as people who opposed it started the "No men in women's restrooms" campaign. Transgender people would have been able to pick what restroom to use, apparently.

Hey guys lets become a better state and represent a country but deny the message of equality here. How motivational :madge:

Interesting to note Houston has a lesbian mayor.

It's disgusting that people are basically voting to keep it legal to discriminate against people. How Christian and Christ-like of them :madge: Absolutely atrocious and hypocritical. Then again it's Texas, so I shouldn't be shocked.

Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.

That's even worse.

Taking a wild guess here she's one of those "members of the LGB but leave out the T" and this Trans* bathroom detail was blown way out of proportion leading to ignorant votes. Either that or she's just powerless to do anything about it.

No, she worked for the bill to go up. She'll be really upset if it ends up failing.

It's weird to think some people think that inequalities are something to keep and equality is just not what is needed right now, like what in the minds of these people is happening?
