Saying I'm flustered is a cheap way of belittling my argument, in the same way suggesting someone's opinions are just the product of bandwagon-thought is a cheap way of dismissing their opinions. It's all ad hominem nonsense. People should be free to share their opinions without being called sheep, or without being told the media thinks for them.

I'm not flustered, I'm just fighting back against the general consensus held among Lady Gaga fans that all criticism of ARTPOP is rooted in the records lack of commercial sucess.

Then maybe you should have a better choice of words because you definitely come across as bothered. I dont think flustered is a harsh word and you still got defensive when I used that.  

Anyway, if you are not flustered, bothered, or even phased by the OP topic, then what are you fighting for? Maybe you just enjoy arguing, but I still stand by my opinion and you will have yours. I'm done here

Can I just say: When I listened to the album in full the night it released, I thought it was a masterpiece. I loved every single song. And I still do. After I finished the album, I said to anyone who'll listen: Gaga just keeps getting better and better. Sure, BTW remains my favorite Gaga album of all, but the statement still stands. She knows what she's doing, and I sure hope she still stands by ARTPOP and it's message and the outcome of it all. Even if no one, the general public or the f*cking critics, understand. Some are joking when they say ARTPOP was ahead of it's time, but I think that's true. And it definitely had impact on the music industry, just open your damn eyes.

Who cares about commercial performance (if you really did, number one album, top 5 single, top 15 WITHOUT music video..) and I don't really have a problem with people disliking it, but repeatedly saying it and bashing is what makes someone annoying. ARTPOP actually was well worked on. Everyone saying it wasn't can't really say so seeing as how most people have no experience in music and didn't go through the bullsh*t she did during an era which she pictures differently. At least she was noble enough to stand by it no matter how much crap the media, GP, and fake fans threw at her. When y'all get on the level she was on and confront the delusion for money from some people, talk then huns.

I think its because few songs alone are just great (imho Aura, Venus, ARTPOP, DWUW and Applause) but the rest is kinda meh and not very consistent. So as all the hype went down people start looking at this album as a piece, which is kinda average overall because it consists of few weak songs as well. TF has the same problem, even tho first 6 songs on the track list literally slayed whole music world at a time.

I never change, I like ARTPOP and its content, and  I still don't like Eh Eh.

Some people are just bandwagon, so that happens. Especiallybwhen they know now the album.is not best selling so they avoid it like a disease.

Other than that yeah, they might just drifted apart.

Its not my favourite album... however it definitely isn't my least favourite, i enjoy the music on it...

 

 

As for certain individuals in this thread... hipster alternative delusion at its finest, i wish people would stop stating their opinions as if they are facts, or that they have any understanding of the general consensus of the whole fanbase... because... you most certainly don't.

well part of all the likes for the music was that we hadn't gotten new music in 2 years at the time. So naturally, we were excited for ANY music. ARTPOP got tiring real quick for most fans which usually indicates the quality of music.

I still bop to TFM and BTW 5-6 years later because she made TIMELESS music on those albums. I was tired (and still tired) of hearing ARTPOP after only a couple months of its release.

I think a lot of people were just excited about having new music (and the produciton on ALL of the songs is absolutely glorious) but the songs (for whatever reason) have poor long-term replay value. (I haven't touched MJH, Swine, J&D, Dope or Donatella in forever tbh). I think this lead to an eventually turn off of ARTPOP praise.

I love it. It's the only album of hers I can relate to on a an emotional level. Born This Way was about love and self acceptance, and those are two things I never really struggled with. Granted I'm an American straight white male - so I'm not really the target to begin with there. The Fame and TFM were about love and, well... fame. Once again two topics I don't feel strongly about one way or the other.

ARTPOP was a lot about what it means to be a creative person in the modern world. How do I exist in the world as a creative individual without compromising my own artistic ability for financial gain. How can I continue doing what I love and make people understand it and support it. It helped me make some major life decisions. I was going to school for graphic design. I was very good at it and doing well, but I hated it. I wasn't making art - I was making advertisements, text layouts and packaging. I went to school for graphic design because I was told that was the only way I could make money doing art - I was foolish and listened. I dropped out and now I am pursuing a career as a tattoo artist, what I wanted to do since I was 15. Nobody can tell me no anymore because it's not worth sacrificing my own happiness so I can sit in an office making boring standard ads and packaging. I want to draw - I don't want to limit my art to a digital medium - it's not who I am. I want to interact with people, I want my art to mean something to someone. ARTPOP helped me realize this all - especially the title track. 

There's still again the element of love on some tracks, once again, a topic I don't relate to strongly either way. But the music on ARTPOP is some of her best sounding as well in my opinion. Every song is it's own adventure that ties into the one before it and the one after. I will always love ARTPOP and I plan on getting a tattoo to celebrate its influence on my life. I don't give a **** if every song went platinum or number one or whatever - all I care is the music reached me in a way other artists have failed to reach me. I'm grateful for that everyday.
