AdAstra 2,649
I feel like people will never try to stop vindicating ARTPOP. Its death has been this drawn out, over-thought, dramatic mess that I wish would just stop. ARTPOP was what it was, do I think it inspired some? Maybe, but dear God just let it die already. Gaga seems to have.

XoXoJoanneGaga 629
Why would they like ARTPOP though? The Fame and The Fame Monster are both pop perfection that perfectly take a snapshot of their eras and more, Born This Way goes against the grain spectacularly but.... ARTPOP is what? Half mediocre, half good but nothing spectacular? I don't think anyone is going to go "Wow, this average album on release is now a masterpiece despite lacking anything memorable! It sounds like a random assortment of Pop-EDM filler songs, like a greatest hits but not being great! I love it!" Lol seriously. Almost every pop star has the occasional filler album in their discography. It's delusional to think it will be remembered (or not remembered) as anything more than that when it does nothing that her previous albums didn't do better and to greater reception, and the production values are low and won't age well making the album incredibly unappealing to potential listeners decades from now. ゼレミ ノヴェリノ 370
ARTPOP wasn't that good imo (songs like Donutella, Fashion!, Jewels n' Cocks, XNXX Dreams, etc., made me puke), but in spite of that it had some stand-out tracks (such as Applause & DWUW, my two only favorites off ARTPOP, esp. that timeless Applause(I'm still crying in the corner every time I remembered how Rawr topped Applause on charts)). SEANGT 5,252
Pfff. Come on. ARTPOP did not sound experimental at all to 2013 listeners (in fact it hopped on to an already dying trend at that point - no one's doing EDM anymore so there you go) and its visual aspect was the antithesis of experimentation, mainly due to Gaga being opposed by MTV and her own team members. All the rest that seems like impact has been done time and time before by (pop) artists before this album, which Gaga explicitly and literally said herself.Stop trying to make it happen, it shouldn't matter.people anyways forget this. She literally said multiple times ARTPOP wasn't even her idea. It's a trend that she was making explicit. I think she even called out kanye and others as being part of it. ARTPOP was just a statement that she understands what the future of pop is. Not a force that moved the scene forward.
