Creating a fragrance and accompanying visuals are great, but going on the grind and doing interviews and appearances just for the sake of getting sale numbers up isn't fun. There's a reason why Fame and Eau De Gaga had very different promo. As for everyone bringing up the selfie thing, I didn't take that in any way bad. There are people who just hunt celebrities down to get selfies with them. They view it as a trophy, they don't care about them. There's a huge difference between the people who hang out at airports and take selfies and the people who go to the shows and actually get to have some kind of real connection to her and her music. So in order to not feel like just another celebrity attaching her name to a product that she doesn't really have any interest in she tried to do something really ground breaking and made FAME, the first black perfume. So it seems like she doesn't like being associated with the generic connotation of an indifferent celebrity who is just being used to make money, which is often how celebrity fragrances are. Is she expecting the fan to take a cup of tea with her and have a deep convo about the meaning of life? Of course everybody would want a selfie. I feel the same way about that as I feel about the app: we can't trust her EVER when she's talking. I mean, in 2014 she couldn't stop describing the app as something that would change her career and open up a whole new experience for her fans etc. etc. and then she just dropped and ignored it and implied that it was just Troy's idea and she never gave a **** about it in the first place. Like, seriously, this is no shade, but she can obviously fake excitement and passion about anything if her label/team/whoever wants her to. I listened to it and if you just piece together what she's saying you'll understand. being a musician, you want to be known for your music and artistic ability. Fragrances never show that and she felt like a "money making machine" by doing interviews, taking selfies WITH PROMO of the fragrance, and using a product to promote through ones image. Selling a fragrance doesn't necessarily have the most artistic meaning behind it (look at the trend) however, I do think FAME was constructed genuinely from her but EDG I believe had something to do with Troy tbh. It felt so random and out of place with the era and there barely was any promo so I see why she felt unhappy at that moment. I do whole heartedly respect gaga for putting in 110% in whatever she did happy or not, whatever the project may be (the app is a different story lol) Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Imagine having thousands of people hang on every word you say, only to hate the fact that you are human being whose priorities change and whos thoughts evolve. And they hate you for it because you don't think exactly the same way you did 7 years ago.Gaga is a saint. I couldn't do it, I could only be a celebrity in the same way that Rihanna is. No point dwelling on it and trying to find some deeper meaning to her words. Found it kinda contradictory tbh...Maybe she liked the idea of the first perfume bc you cleary saw it was her idea (at least artistically) and she did all she could to make it perfect. But the second perfume was kinda left on the side yes. So maybe she's only referring to the second one and maybe future ones? Don't think she liked the idea of a perfume in the first place, and writing this I remember she said one time that she didn't want to do it unless the liquid was black. I think that is the answer.
