So, Cyndi s first album sold 17,000,000ww then her second album True Colours failed to sell the half of it, it ended up selling 7,000,000. Then her third album sold less than the previous on 2,500,000 ww. Then at some point she completely fell out of pop radar commercialy.

TFM era 16,500,000

BTW 6,400,000

ARTPOP 2,500,000

History repeats ?

While Madonna s popularity was rising from 1983 to 1990, where she reached 30,000,000 albums with Immaculate collection. Cyndi Lauper failed to have longevity even her greater than Madonna Debut. Maybe Katy Perry or Taylor swift(talentless *****s) is the Madonna of this period commercially aligned. What do you think?

I want to say "maybe, only time will tell"...but I also want to say that she's a completely different person, these comparisons don't make any sense...

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

maybe in terms of album sale trends, but it's my understanding that gaga's level of popularity has been consistently higher than cyndi's ever was

You can't really compare album sales and how they change over an artist's career when we're talking about 30 years ago. Things have changed so much, and it doesn't factor in tour revenue and other things.

Kevin Parker, Mac Demarco, Mark Ronson, and a stoned Lady Gaga. Need I say more?

Sad cause it's true but Gaga suffered from depression and a ****ty manager for ARTPOP and the public have great respect for her thanks to C2C, Oscars and AHS. She's set herself up strong to deliver on her next album so I think gaga can make a strong comeback so no I don't think Gaga will drop off the radar :kisses:

she had Girls Just Wanna Have fun, Time after TIME moment, took some awards from 1983 to 1986

Comparing her sales to an artists from decades ago makes no sense though. The industry is incredibley different now and sales don't equate to the amount of people you reach in the same way they used to. Comparing her official sales numbers against other artists today would be better and in that case you will see she is still up in the top sellers.

No. For starters, that 16 million figure is The Fame and The Fame Monster, and with BTW being at around 7 million WW, that's pretty consistent. Add that to the fact that album sales have been on a rapid decline these past few years, and the massive amount of single sales Gaga has that launch her well over 100 million records sold worldwide (a number Cyndi never hit). Gaga's also won a lot more Grammys (6 vs 2), and has been able to maintain relevance by branching out into other areas of entertainment. If any pop girl was to be considered the Cyndi of the 2010s, I would say Kesha.

Plus, Katy has also experienced a significant sales decline when taking into account singles and albums. Whereas Madonna's sales increased between her second and third album, Katy's decreased, as did her singles. So neither comparison is valid IMO.
