Economy 52,860
No don't get me wrong, but I feel in overall the future of energy lies in clean energy. The most succesful companies these days are those investing in durability of clean energy and measures against climate change. I feel those that invest in oil should back away and look at new solutions. Tesla is doing a great job at making a change, by making battery driven cars, and batteries for a sustainable home. The way the oil magnates had/have the power over a lot things, and that has to change. As for other products relying on the oil industry (plastics, shampoo, toothpaste), they should look into alternatives as well.i worry about this. If entire world goes battery, they took require scarse resources. Stuff baterries are made out of is not aboundant. And yes it is stuff that can be recycled such as lithium but recycling never gets back 100% of original material

GreekGod 1,085
Humiliating women, killing gays and jihad is sweet on the other hand isn't it? Hate that politically correct delusion.it's not about Muslims, or Islam. radicalism occured in any religion any time in the history. it cant be a reason to hate Muslims or their religion (which has nothing to do with radicalists), or their country. Hate that politically correct delusion.I go to collage here and there are some open gay men who even wear lip gloss and glitters (not that thats what gays do) and people know they are gay. The law to kill gays was written 100 years ago and it was not changed because the Council of Senior Scholars dont want to change that but the government does not practice that. Jihad means killing in self defense so Saudi Arabia fighting and killing ISIS today is considered Jihad. Women are not humiliated but are treated differently than men. This country is not perfect but its also not how you picture it to be.

If you're in any remotely relevant position of power and influence, your homos-xuality can be exploited in the form of blackmail. You can be kicked out of your home, job, or anything else for apparently "justified" reasons and you cannot fight back. If someone in the police is homophobic or even simply bored, they can "justifiably" take you into prison if they suspect you are gay and you can't do anything about it. I'm pretty sure you can actually be legally physically assaulted in the form of lashings as well.Lebanon is safer than the KSA ever was and ever will be when it comes to LGBT people, but all that **** I typed happens here despite us having out and proud gay people. You're cherry picking one situation (out gay guys on one campus) and using it as a general example. That's just wrong.Regarding women, the mere absence of equal rights constitutes humiliation. Being inherently inferior to someone just because you have a vagina is humiliation ESPECIALLY when everyone else's freedoms are there for you to see. These countries continue to spread out-dated Arab culture with the pretense that it's part of religious expression by "interpreting" what the Quran says in their own way. With all due respect, you should not be defending your country when it comes to these positions. Gays and none gays would get punished in Saudi for practicing or promoting s-xual activities publicly. So yes like you said they can be discriminated against but didnt America not allow gays to enter the military and did not allow them to get married? discriminating against homos-xuals is not a Saudi thing, its a worldwide problem. I am not cherry picking! I was born and raised here my whole life and I know many open gay people even my moms best friend brother is gay and everyone knows it. I never said there was. Look what happened to Uganda when it started theirs. The issue is that one can easily be formed and it would be completely legal if it ever did. Discrimination in the USA is a different beast. LGBT people were still treated as human beings. In fact they had more rights than women have in the KSA.A major concern is that was "western" ideologies like LGBT rights start to manifest themselves more strongly in the Middle East, the more the religious theocracies will start cracking down. In the USA, where separation of church and state is a fundamental part of their constitution, those laws that discriminated against LGBT people were easily overturned when public opinion shifted. It's unfortunate that it took so long, but the USA has a significant religious following. The USA being a democracy didn't speed things along either.Compare that to KSA which bases its constitution on theocratic law. Do you think any change will ever happen? It's one thing to not be executed on sight, but it's different to always consider yourself as a second-class citizen as long as religious leaders interpret the Quran to fit their own homophobia. The entire Islamic world looks to the theocratic leaders in KSA, Iran, etc for guidance. As long as KSA is an enemy on this front, they are an enemy to LGBT people all over the world.I'm not claiming to know how your family dynamic functions, and I'm glad that your family is not outright homophobic, but I'm fairly certain they have to keep everything under wraps. It also helps if you have money. Again, not assuming you do. Edited just now by LebaneseDude.

I know you never said that but I was replying to someone else who said that gays are being killed in Saudi Arabia and my comment was to tell him thats not true.. I understand everything your saying but im telling you that I never denied that! yes I know that in the US its a different kind of discrimination but at the end of the day it is discrimination. There is no one verse in the Quran that mentions homos-xuality and the prophet had two friends that were gays and transgendered so using religion to help the LGBT cause can be made if people want religious justification. At the moment, most of the world if not all discriminate against gays so dont expect Saudi Arabia to be the first and making this a Saudi problem is wrong as it is a world wide problem. My family doesnt keep anything under wraps! my sister goes out with an open abaya and doesnt cover her hair.. she also smokes in public places and goes out with her male friends.. alot of people in Saudi have money and that does not help you in these kind of laws. LebaneseDude 6,146
Wait, does that actually happen in Lebanon? I haven't been there in a while, so I don't know. Hopefully not, though, I'd be completely disappointed,Not often, but it does once in a while. You go a while thinking everything is great then you hear a story that makes you cringe. It's gotten better now, given that the courts can no longer prosecute anyone for being gay. There are also loads of public LGBT groups. People are generally supportive of the laissez-faire ideology. Do what you want but do it behind closed doors.I don't like it at all, but it's better than what you hear about in Egypt and such. The thing is, you still get those bored police officers and religious zealots. They're the ones you have to watch out for. This rule applies anywhere in this region though. Edited just now by LebaneseDude.

All countries and governments are immoral, it just depends on what kind of immorals you prefer and I prefer to live under the immorality of Saudi Arabia than America as I lived in both countries unlike you.The reason the world is so slow is because the west is forcing itself down everyones throat to the point where everyone rejects any western ideologies. Leave us to progress and grow into what is moral our way. Stop manipulating and controlling the world in the name of helping others specially when the whole world fears your help. Joumana 463
mm it's kind of time that those oil billionairs/royal family controlling Saudia Arabia get less money, and become less powerful.I dont think that its time since theye already had a certain inherited capital and it's a priviledge why is it time and why are you making their wealth seem bad?unless they mismanage their money they should be fine guess whos up in this bitch
