Luiz 4,253 Posted October 25, 2015 Share Posted October 25, 2015 Another high school football player has died after being injured during a game, bringing this year’s number of football-related deaths to seven.Bogan (Chicago) High School’s Andre Smith, 17, was immediately taken to the hospital at 6 p.m. Thursday night after sustaining an injury on the last play of a game against Chicago Vocational High School, according to Chicago’s ABC7.Smith passed away early Friday morning and an autopsy is scheduled for Saturday, the medical examiner’s office told the Chicago Sun-Times.“It was a kick return play,” stadium announcer Jimmy Smith told the Sun-Times. “(Smith) was running and a guy blocked him, hit him pretty good and that was it. He went down and he got back up and walk backed to the visitor’s side of the field.”Jimmy Smith said the paramedic at the game examined Andre and then called the ambulance, adding that he passed out and fell down.Andre was unconscious but breathing when he was taken tot he hospital, Chicago Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford told the Sun-Times.The news comes just six days after Texas teen Cam’ron Matthews passed away after collapsing on the field. http://usatodayhss.com/2015/chicago-football-player-becomes-seventh-teen-to-die-during-game-this-year I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it.
