The only thing that would make me jump ship is if she committed genocide or something. It was the music that brought me here, not the commercial success.

What if you stopped being negative and started to care about the music, instead of worrying about something so shallow that sales represent.

I wouldn't really care. The music has to be great. :nick:

as I've seen what most people are saying, as long as you like the music who cares what other people or critics say because in the end its all about if you like it or not!! i personally love ARTPOP very much and apparently some people didn't like it or didn't think it was "successful" but i don't listen or care what others think about it so not thinking in the negative and appreciating it for yourself is all that matters.

If LG5 was a failure, it really wouldn't matter. Her status as a pop legend is already cemented.

Beyonce has failed to chart with a Hot 100 topper for the past few albums, but she still sells very well, has tons of fans, and if treated by the media/public as a legend/pop queen. Same for Madonna.

With proper marketing and promo, it will do generally well. ARTPOP was mishandled tbh. What also made it debut lower, is the them allowing ppl to listen to the whole album on itunes or something, before it came out

I honestly expect LG5 to do worse than ARTPOP, but at this point I dont even care.

I feel exactly the same, pop music is like sports. When i see people rooting for their team, i realize we're doing the same during awards or release ...

I don't care about the sales the album will manage to push, but just think about the state of the industry - we shouldn't expect too high numbers. I mean, now you top the Billboard 200 with 80-90k sales. If ARTPOP was to be released now with its numbers from 2 years ago it would be THE album :laughga:

I think people view her differently now than they did when ARTPOP was dropped. After all of the hype thrown behind ARTPOP, it underwhelmed - naturally. Still, I don't consider the album a commercial 'flop'.. it went #1 worldwide. Singles, different story.

LG5 is destined to do better than ARTPOP. I think people want great music from her. They don't like that ARTPOP underwhelmed. Since that album - she stole the Oscars, TIHTY, C2C/Grammy, Tom Ford video, AHS etc. etc. It's all been positive. If she wants to drop an album.. she really shouldn't wait much longer. Perfect it, yes. But I'd definitely want the first single out prior to AHS finishing up.

These threads are so stupid, one pops up about this every week. Who cares how successful it is, it's more important that the music is good and Gaga is happy with it, mainstream commercial success is too highly regarded these days, it means nothing, so much of what's successful is total garbage. Stop dwelling on this commercial success crap.
