Do you think Hotel (and Gaga) is going to receive equal standards...

...of accolades the previous seasons have received?

I'm actually very pleased by the season so far as it gets better and better, but I'm still pressed at the entire season's rating determined by episode one, how is this logical? Is there going to be another review later? If so are they going to take into account all episodes airing later because so far the season gets better in time and it'd be beneficial to the season this way.

I think it's ESSENTIAL Gaga gets an Emmy nomination for Best Lead Actress because Jessica and Sarah have been doing such a great job in the past four seasons. I think it'll look really bad if the moment AHS loses Jessica marks the downfall of AHS cause this season also represents Gaga's acting debut.

I know there's nothing we can do but seriously, considering the rating thus far, do you think she (and the season) are going to be acknowledged the way previous seasons have?

I feel like this season is taking a much different approach than others, in past seasons they would feed information little by little, almost immediately linking it to the overall story, this season it seems like a lot of unrelated information is being given that will start to become linked and probably cause mass meltdowns when we finally see the big picture

Considering the usual people who b---h and whine about everything that happens in ahs aren't complaining because there's nothing really to complain about, I'd say yes.

All I see is bad reviews for all seasons, so I'm not sure where you're getting the "accolades" and "acknowledgments" from..

There seems to be more complaints about the season itself but praise for gaga so idk

I agree, but it still looks bad if the moment Gaga steps in represents the beginning of AHS's downfall, despite not resulting from her.

Also AHS has received nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress EVERY YEAR, that's such a big pressure for Gaga, I think Gaga is amazing but I'm concerned that the Emmys can't see that.

Shes not getting an Emmy nomination, and if she does it will be such a joke tbh.

Look i LOVE Gaga and i LOVE her on AHS but if you think her acting is the best acting on prime time television then you are delusional. We have yet to see Gaga fully act as well, unless they start giving her actual emotional scenes that give her the chance to act and show us her versatility instead of just being a fierce vampire queen all the time.

Also i think its REALLY unfair to compare her acting to Jessica or Sarah who are absolutely phenomenal and who have been in the profession for years. Yall are literally setting her up to be dragged.

Who exactly are these people btw?

About progression: the seasons' ratings can absolutely change. Coven is the best example, since the reviews started out positive and then in the second half they spiralled down to almost universally negative. I don't expect this to happen but it's possible in theory that Hotel will be re-evaluated by critics later on.

a lot of people say gaga took Jessica's place and ruined ahs for them...

when Jessica was the one who chose to leave optionally :cryga:

Don't be insecure if you heart is pure, you're still good to me if you're a bad kid baby.

Wikipedia. I think the reason you hold that impression is because you read comments from viewers instead, when the valid reviews are mostly positive. All four seasons have received tons of Emmy nominations, drew strong ratings and well praised by critics.

LOL you don't have to have an emotional scene to be considered a good actor, Jessica is FAR from phenomenal she's one dimensional and played the same character every season, just because she's old and has acted for decades doesn't maker her a good actress, it's the same with musicians. Sarah is a much better actress than either of them though I agree she's amazing but Gaga's already got a mystique in the show Lange never had. Gaga's first time in a leading role is going spectacularly well just because she isn't playing a cancer patient dying or a grieving mother doesn't mean she's a bad actress, she's played her part well.

Fair enough she's playing the same type of character Lange did for 4 seasons but at least she added something new to it; mystery & excitement.

This last episode had me worried. Gaga was pretty phenomenal and brazen in the first two episodes, but, one or two moments aside, episode 3 had her playing the exact same notes.

I don't agree that she needs a crying or angry scene to prove herself. Those are the easiest emotions for an actor to tap into, by far. If Gaga is going to excel and grow as an actress, Ryan and Co need to provide her character with more dynamics. We've seen her be s-xy, alluring, and a little vulnerable. Now, what else?

(The scene where she offs Ramona's lover was a step in the right direction, but a small step.)

:air: Viewer ratings are better than critic reviews in all cases..

Coven is the only season that could qualify as been reviewed well, the other seasons have ratings that can only be interpreted as mixed to favorable (Freakshow and Coven) and average (Asylum and first season) to me.

The seasons have regularly been nominated for "Best Miniseries" etc. but have never won and the main wins (and main praise) have always gone to the actors' performances and not the show. The Golden Globes for instance didn't even bother to nominate the show at all except for two seasons.

So no, I get my impression from lots of different information and based on comparisons with other shows I think it's perfectly accurate to say that AHS is not a critically praised show.

I think the opinion you hold is a result of you being Gaga's fan. You expect yourself to be rational since you probably don't want to let the fact of you being a Gaga fan cloud your judgment but you've gone a little too far imo, to the extent that it's unfair to Gaga.

You mentioned 'versatility', obviously you expected a character different from Gaga's pop persona but you need to keep in mind that she was assigned an evil character, which draws similarities to her pop persona of a dark nature. Just because she's been acting like how she did on stage doesn't mean she's a bad actress, if you speculate closely she's actually bringing the best out of Elizabeth and how is portraying Elizabeth in a different way any better, considering her evil nature.

No one said her acting was the best on primetime TV but an Emmy nomination is worthy of consideration. I'd also like to remind you that we only saw three episodes.
