The biggest problem with AHS Hotel so far

It's definitely pulling the whole AHS narrative of being incredibly convoluted at the start, and slowly revealing itself (now whether or not it's done in a decent manner we have to wait and see).

Rather than lacking, it seems very full.

Well I feel that instead of having an unclear plot, "Hotel" simply has an unclear direction; both of which are two separate things. The plot centers around a detective investigating the strange activities of a Hotel. That seems like a pretty clear story line to me. What DOES feel un-concise and all over the place are the character's involvements/direction, but that's EXACTLY how its supposed to be.

The show is using a very simple formula. It's starting out extremely complex only to eventually become clear.

There is a plot, but it is sort of messy. But that's Ryan Murphy's shtick, especially with American Horror Story.

Some elements are tied back, and sometimes, unfortunately, others aren't, and those are presumed to be fillers for shock value or just unfinished story lines that were too difficult to connect. It's definitely annoying for someone obsessed with continuity, like I admit i can be at times--regardless, it doesn't make the show unworthy of being enjoyed.

I'm sort of used to it by now when it comes to Murphy, but I will say that I was cringing at some of the dialogue. Something to be blamed by the writers, not the actors, as I didn't think any of the performances were bad. But the dialogue with the detective. Oh god. Oh no. No. Make it stop.
