Am I the only one annoyed by all the connections?

Let me start by saying that love Hotel and Gaga is killing it. So this isn't about that.

I have been watching American Horror Story ever since the pilot in 2011. What made it so special, to me, was the premise that every season was its own contained story. Every season you would get the same actors playing different roles in different settings in different time periods, be it as part of the main cast, recurring or guest star, and then reset again the following year. Cool. Awesome. That, along with its content, really set it apart from other TV shows in my opinion.

Then Ryan said "it's all connecTED!!!!1" by including Pepper in Freak Show and tying her to Asylum with Mary Eunice. I cringed a bit, but ultimately did not care that much because lbr, Freak Show was a ****ing mess. But now, the show is being connected to Murder House right off the bat, and there is talk about Constance's fourth child appearing. There are also the pics of Gaga at a certain location from a certain season and all those theories that connect Gaga to Constance or Gaga to one of Emma Robert's characters, that even Ryan isn't confirming nor denying, so there is certainly something there.

I know a couple of characters shared last names or birth places in seasons 1-3, but those were just cute meaningless winks. I am just annoyed at this point. I mean, it's pretty obvious that the show was not constructed that way at the beginning, seeing as Murder House, Asylum and Coven don't share anything at all. Ryan pulled it out of his ass because cinematic universes became really big before Freak Show, so they changed course half way. And it shows. Now the connections are just retroactively magically there and it feels really forced imo. Add the Little AHSers trying to connect it to everything (and the Little Ratingsers tbh) and it just became so tiresome. I love this season and I am of course going to stick with it, but American Horror Story wasn't supposed to be about that at all

I think it's fun tbh. It wasn't necessary to add, but if they do it right, each season should work completely on its own anyway.

In other words, even if the (SPOILER!!!!!) Murder House is incorporated into Hotel (as we know it is) the viewer wouldn't need to have seen season 1 to understand what's happening.

I think it's fun - if you are new to the show, it means nothing, but for fans of the series it's more a knowing wink and a nudge rather than major plot connections.

I think we're considered lucky to have these connections. Every season brings a whole new set of ideas and themes to the series. A little bit on connection from 1 season to another is pretty cool. What makes AHS different from other current shows is that every season changes.

I love the idea connections. It's the whole "omg that makes sense because in season 1 this happened!!" Etc. It makes it more fun and interactive as a viewer. It feels like being a detective trying to piece things together.

I actually like them and I think they're connecting Murder House and the Hotel really well and I think they went into this season planning to connect those two unlike other seasons where it seems they just put things in to connect it.

I agree with you. I think right now Ryan is intentionally doing more and more because everyone wants it to be a thing.
