Ryan Reid 173
"As is above, so is below" is a common theme in occult imagery. One of the most famous depictions of Satan shows him in this pose: This is not "reaching," but common knowledge. It's also the most obvious symbolism I've mentioned in this thread... the teaser for the series is even titled "Above and Below" ... There are several allusions to this in last night's episode (which also have nothing to do with Gaga --- such as the scene where the "good guy" police officer lays on the bed in room 64 and the camera pans "below" to the "bad guy" dead junkie under the bed). ...Nothing to do with Gaga, except for the fact that she's played with this imagery since the beginning of her career. Ryan Reid 173
After reading the above, re-watch the 'Above & Below' promo video and it will take on a whole new meaning! :)This is nothing revelatory... Simply drawing on the classic contrast of good vs. evil. God vs. Satan, etc... Watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLiobn9RyFs

Ryan Reid 173
but its not really her deciding it is it? She said it herself Ryan took the lead. This is his doing not her. For sure --- ultimately, all of this is Ryan's vision and work! But don't forget, Ryan is a gay man who loves his divas and also loves symbolism. She's 100% in on it with him, and they know how all the references tie together. It's a collaboration.
Ryan Reid 173
Some of you are too young to remember, but the "illuminati" imagery trend in pop music was not widely popularized until Lady Gaga and Kanye West took it to the extreme in 2008-2010. It became synonymous with their work. Since then, it's been referenced by dozens upon dozens in the industry, so it's commonplace now. But it will always be a uniquely defining theme of Gaga's early career.

My dispute was with how much was it HER image in this season or Ryan's image for her. I believe its more Ryan's image based off of Gaga's best "horror" "dark" themes. From Paprazzi VMA's till the end of TFM era is where I think most of the references are for Gaga's work. If All You Ever Do Is Look Down On People, You Won't Be Able To Recognize Your Own Weaknesses. I can totally respect that these references were as much (if not more so) Ryan's ideas as they were Gaga's. But they are "Gaga references" all the same (regardless of whose idea they were).
