GovernmentGaga 446
I know everyone is giving her a hard time about this, but wouldn't it be worse if she didn't get emotional over the loss? To me, it shows honesty and vulnerability. It also shows that she truly CARES about her music. All she was doing with that statement, was explaining how 1989 came to be.It's not like she b---hed and moaned about it for years. Instead, she took note of her current direction, and decided to make a sonically cohesive album -- 1989. If you guys were to watch the videos she has on GrammyPro, you'd really appreciate her more. She's a very intelligent artist when it comes to what she wants to create.
craig 680
Then she went and lost best International Female at the Brits to Lana - well-deserved as Born to Die had better lyrics and more UK sales than Red.
Whispering 18,865
I don't blame her. Take a few hours to be upset and then move on and continue to strive to do better. Nothing wrong with that! Much more mature than throwing a little lame fit and unfollowing the Grammy Twitter account and then going out and getting coked up!
GagaSlays 3
Oh, C'mon! She won over Gaga on 2010 for that same category, and The Fame has sold the double amount of copies that Fearless has! And it's just and award!Don't you remember back in 2011 when TFM was nominated for Album Of The Year and a band won? That award was 4 Gaga, sadly they didn't give it to her.My point is that you're not always going to be perfect. And just wait for 2016's Grammys girl. Maybe you'll win this time! Economy 49,125
i dont judge. I know what its like when your friends almost have you convinced you will win something and then you dont Its easy to get your hopes up when its something you care about I dont think she was being cocky or self-centered to get her hopes up that she was gonna win
VforVendetta 2,024
You have a few options when you don't win an award, you can decide like "oh! they're wrong, they all voted wrong" or you can get on stage and grab the microphone from whoever did win it, or third, you can say "maybe they're right, maybe i did not make the record of my career, maybe i need to fix the problem" which was that i have not been making sonically cohesive albums. I need to really think about whether i'm listening to a scared record label and what that's doing to the art i'm making Queen of self-awareness Or music is subejective and you can't judge solely from some awards. Redstreak 6,653
Or music is subejective and you can't judge solely from some awards. Ok but that doesn't mean there can't be valid criticisms towards your work. You can either sulk and say they're wrong, or you can listen to those criticisms, size them up, and try and make something better Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

Still award shows are more to please the inustry than the audience and the quality the last decades so they have lost a lot of their ''weight''. And yes, they can still be good critiscism. Though one album that lost one year because of the huge competition could have easily won the previous or the next one, so it mostly gets to timing not quality. (not to mention all the schemes of the industry to make artist rise and fall and make more headlines and money)

UmbriaWitch 325
I like that she admitted it hurt. Not a fan of the fake "well it was an honour just to be nominated, *smiles & gushes*" nonsense. Losing an award hurts, no harm in admitting it.
craig 680
The problem is that once you've won AOTY, not winning is a step down. But Taylor isn't perceived as a musical genius that deserves repeated wins. More like: "she got lucky once, so let;s honour someone else for lifetime achievement,in a genre we've snubbed previously."
