Ok... so almost all i could think about today while doing monotonous things at work was:

"Did I download everything from Gagafrontrow?" :toofloppy:

Well the answer is most likely no, I hadn't visited GFR in at least a month, and there were always a few remixes figured I'd get to when I had the chance. Big mistake. As we have heard today, and as Mathieu has told me via email, MediaFire has locked his entire widespanning Gaga audio/pdf/awesome stuff account.

With no warning, no letter, no email -- just locked. This is most likely in response to the can of worms PIPA and SOPA have recently unleashed that resulted in the death of MegaUpload and MultiUpload and it's related filesharing services.

Since any collector usually desires completion, this blow of losing Matheiu's 3 years worth of meticulous research and organization was tough for me, and added to the loss I was already feeling concerning MegaUpload a few months back.

I found a way to partially ease the loss of GFR today and at least begin to assess where I'm at collection-wise at this point -- reviewing what he had posted at one time through the awesome archival tool we all know and love: The WayBack Machine!

The Web Archive of the WayBack Machine captured screenshots and working links on Gaga Front Row in July 2011. Now I realize that isn't March 2012 complete, but for me it is a comparison and reference point to begin to pick up the missing peices I idiotically may not have downloaded at the time.

Gaga Front Row is mostly navigable as a website from this link. The last capture was 7-4-2011:

http://web.archive.o...gafrontrow.net/

I hope you guys can use the archived material on The WayBack Machine to assess what you still need of the files there. Remember if you Google the exact song titles, remixes/remixer's names, and exact dates of bootlegs and concerts you can still find the majority of what Matheiu had on GFR.

You just need to do a little digging.

Mathieu was very kind to PM me today and let me know that all of his files that were once on MediaFire he has backed up in his private collection, so if information is needed on a particular file or bootleg show I can still ask him to check his resources to see if he has it.

There is no news yet from Mediafire on his end, so we must wait patiently for more news. I will let you all know as soon as I know more details from him.

My overwhelming advice to you all is this:

Download everything you can, as soon as you can, while you still can. You never know when you're going to wake up one morning and another filesharing source you always thought would be there has been lost.

EDIT: 3-15-2012

IMPORTANT UPDATE:

Mediafire has closed and deleted Mathieu's account completely.

He will not be posting music on GFR anymore, but he has kindly allowed a "graveyard" version of his archives to be left online for the benefit of completists who need that list to get all the audio. So no one needs the WayBack Machine at this point anymore, he has left the Graveyard up for us to reference.

Here is what he said:

Chica:

You can update your post on GFR, because all the pages on GFR with music files are still online. However, the links to mediafire will not work, because the account is locked. So the wayback machine will not help.

However, for fans interested in at least having a record of what is/was available, I have created an Mp3Graveyard page with all the posts on GFR that had music:

http://www.gagafront...p3archives.html

Other than that, the site will still post pictures of shows I go to, info on the music, and stuff related to my work in the sociology of fame.

So get out there and start googling, monsters! Nearly everything Mathieu had can be found on Google, and if there is something you cannot find, contact me and I'll contact him.

a "that's nice" gif?

www.gagafrontrow.net was as of a few days ago a huge source of downloadable rarities of Gaga sound, organized and categorized very well over a period of three years. As a research and resource Gaga website it was absolutely indispensable.

If you haven't heard of it, I must admit I am rather surprised, but stranger things have happened.

It was a joke ;)

What I meant in my post was it would've been better if gagafrontrow, megaupload and all other sites like these are left alone and not closed. I get that they want to stop piracy but piracy is a double edged sword. Yes, industries for entertainment media had been losing money from piracy but they aren't looking at the good side of it. In music, for example, they want to ban the downloading of music illegally but if that happens, artists won't have strong followings because some can't afford these prices. Piracy = Popularity. How so? When one is dedicated to an artist, like myself to Gaga, I try my best to buy her music. But music from Katy Perry, Adele and everyone else I like, I pirate. If we aren't allowed to pirate, we may not be as obsessed with these artists and this will affect their income in all other ways. People will only go to tours if they have this level of "obsession" and liking of an artist and. believe it or not, piracy helps in developing this "obsession". I know my whole point is a mess but I'm kinda sabaw right now :hehe: No to SOPA

Wow this whole mediafire thing is really upsetting :/ Its like some kind of file sharing genocide :( Its scary because they could lock or suspend anybody next. It just feels so violating, not to mention the fear that one day all my files will just be gone. I feel like the internet is dying, the whole thing is really depressing :(

ChicaSkas, do you have a torrent or a direct link for all your collection in one? :D let's say you have 100gb of it, and is there a host for it? To download folders directly from you.. I've heard of www.dropbox.com, that when you put new things to your computer folder, it will be for the recipient folder too..

And when you say my name, like white horses on the waves, I think it feels the same, as an ocean in my veins.

1. I don't fully understand torrents

2. I think i know enough about them to know that 12,000 mp3s are not going to fit inside one :haha:

3. I removed my mediafire folder from existance until further notice. I cannot afford it.

I think we should make a gagadaily collection!

Everyone will post a list of their gaga-files they have and after we will put together all the lists with all the files and with the username...

So if someone need to download something he has just to ask that user!

There is a stickyed thread I made here called "Post Your Audio Lists"

Where people put screenshots of their collections. I did that when this site first opened in Oct 2011 because we were losing the 2 1/2 year old Audio Section from GGD 1.0. That's a good idea.

I think you can create 2 dropbox accounts and make them together? :P I want your collections :(

That's very flattering and kind of you but I can't do that.
