Canada currently holds the 3rd largest proven oil reserves (after Saudi Arabia and Venezuela) at 174 Billion Barrels.

The oil industry is exited to advertise that new technologies that will nearly double the ex-tractable reserves that have been worked on for many years are almost complete. It is estimated the new proven reserves from the oil sands alone will surge to at least 300 Billion Barrels

Canada also made discoveries of very large shale deposits in the North of the Country though more surveying needs to be done to assess exactly how much reserves are found there

Venezuela is the 1 other Country besides Canada that also has huge oil sands reserves and theirs are actually a bit bigger so if Venezuela gets their hands on this new technology they might surpass Canada :koons:

Hopefully the shale reserves they found are large enough to still keep Canada at #1 if Venezuela got that technology but I doubt it :noparty:

Mostly the Venz gov sucks at everything right now tho.

they dont need to invent it though. theyd just need to buy it from our companies or steal it some other way

When Canada developed the technology to extract oil sands in large operations our reserves shot up to #2 in the world only behind Saudi Arabia

But eventually Venezuela got their hands on that technology somehow and since their oil sands have even more oil, they went to #1 and we were knocked off to #3

Venezuelas oil sands are extremely large... i dunno their dynamics but if their reserves also rose the same proportion with this same technology, their reserves would go up somewhere around 500 Billion barrels (2X Saudi Arabia which has 260 billion)

Yet somehow despite already having the most oil in the world even now, their economy stinks real bad :saladga:
